The time is NOW to have some fun! The annual Fun Ford Weekend is coming up (Saturday and Sunday, August 18th and 19th, 2007) at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. I'll be there on Friday, August 17th through the 19th, and will be staying in the Hampton Beach area for the weekend. I'll be racing my car and subjecting it to 5,000 rpm launches.:D Hopefully it'll stay together and get me some mid 12 second timeslips. We'll see! If it breaks, it won't be too much fun.:(
Anyways, who else is going?

My girlfriend and I will be there as spectators for at least one of the days. We will be up there all weekend, but I dont want to subject the girlfriend to too much testosterone ;)
Not too exciting, but I enjoy the shows and the races. Wish I could participate though.

I think the wife and I are gonna venture down that weekend. Im not taking the '83 GT on the 1000 mile round trip though, not sure if my cooling system will hold up for that long of a trip this year...? The 351W runs a bit warm with the little 2 row copper core rad. Hopefully I'll get to bring 'er down next year. :)
I Would like to meet up with some fellow members, so hopefully I'll see some of you people there?

I'll be there on the 18th. My car will probably be parked in the show again next to my buddies blown 69 coupe. I've only run this car down the strip once, and I don't think anyone really wants to see a basically stock motor car run on FFW.

Are there usually a lot of vendors there selling/trading new or used parts? Wouldn't mind picking up a few thing's if so...
Hissing Cobra
08-06-2007, 10:10 PM
Well, there's vendor's but not too many. Usually UPR is there and the last two years, I believe that either the H.O. Fibertrends or the Cincinatti Composites companies were there (I can't remember which one it was, but they were selling fiberglass hoods). As for the other vendors, there's not too many. That's an area where I wish the participation of more companies would increase.
Dynamic

It seems like the vendors dont think its worth the trip to NH. I havent gone to FFW in a number of years, and I remember their not being many vendors then. Its sad to see the lack of vendor interest in this show. Last time I was went, their was more swap meet vendors than their was new part vendors!!!

So far, I've got a list of people going with me. Only one foureyedpride member (my brother, 306gt).
My friend's and their cars are as follows:
Kenny - 2004 Mach I (ProCharged with 421 rwhp)
Ben - 2004 Pontiac GTO (Stock, racing Friday night only)
Joe - 1999? Saleen (Supercharged with 280 rwhp)
Paul - 1985 Mustang GT (N/A 336 with 387 rwhp)
Brian - 1999 Mustang GT (ProCharged with 420 rwhp)
Dave - 1996 Mustang Cobra (Stock)
Me with my Cobra
Ken and Kate, are you both going? If so, we'll be at a hotel in Hampton Beach, about 15 minutes from the track. I'm not sure of the name because my brother booked it. I'd have to ask him if you're interested in staying there (if you're going.)

Sorry guys, but I'm out for this one. Finances are not allowing me to attend this show and stay up for the weekend. I will definitely be going to Tasca on the 25th.

08-14-2007, 08:51 AM
I will be there...car-less though and just spectating. I will probably be there on Sat. only and will visit other areas of NH for the rest of the weekend. I forget where we are staying since the girlfriend booked it, but its somewhere in the Nashua area. Kinda far from the track but I know the area pretty well.

I'm going with a few friends, probably just Saturday. My red 85 will be in the close vicinity to a few friend's with a stock blue 2006 gt, a red/black big block 77 f150, a pro street 69 coupe, and probably a dark blue early bronco or two. None of us are planning on racing, my car is pretty much stock, and both mine and the 69 haven't been down the track since last fall. But we'll be in with the show cars. Hopefully I'll get a chance to clean the car first. I might race on Tasca day if I can actually get to the track a few times before and get the car consistant. The 69 should be racing on Tasca day this year too. Hopefully with more consistant results than last year.

Cool! I've seen that '69 before (at last year's event). It's one sexy looking ride! I hope to see you up there.

Im not sure if I will make it this weekend? My Grandmother is really sick with Cancer and is not expected to live much more than a few days...Anyway I really want to go but Im thinking I should stay close to home and be with Her and the rest of the Fam. I'll chime in later in the week when I make a definite decision.

Ken,
Check the weather. If both days are nice, we should each get 3 runs in - minimum. Each day, we get 2 time trials and one round of eliminations. If we win that round, we move into the next round. We'll keep going if we keep winning. If we lose, we're out for the rest of the day. Last year, I lost in the first round to a 17.5 second Ford Focus. That's what happens when you give someone a 5 second headstart. I beat him to the finish line but I ran a 12.51 on a 12.55 dial in to eliminate myself.
If both days are nice, Saturday will be better for you two. Why? Because you're going to need Sunday off to recuperate from that never ending ride home.

Where is everyone staying at, and are the rates reasonable there? There's a good chance the Fam and I may still make the event!
Cheers :)

It's a nice area to stay in but I'm not sure of what's available for campgrounds in that area. You guys could always camp at the track. Many people do so during that weekend. Just a thought.

I'm pretty bummed. Looks like me and my friends may not make it this year. My buddy hasn't got a trailer lined up for his 69, and driving it is kinda out of the question. Race gas, a 10 gallon fuel cell, and about a 2 hour drive, probably going to cost a small fortune. Plus a good friend of ours is going in for pretty major heart surgery tomorrow, so we all are basically going to be waiting by the phone to hear how he's doing. We might make it and just take my car, but it's really up in the air. We should all make it for the Tasca day in September though.

Thanks! Yeah, we mess people up all the time.:p I forgot to mention that the speedometer works and looks awesome! Also, I checked out your GT-350 and man, WHAT A CAR! I love it and wish it were in my garage. I didn't get to check out your other 'Stang but after seeing your White one, I wish I had. Was it parked next to it or was it somewhere else? If it was next to it, I completely overlooked it as for some reason, I'm always drawn to the foureyes, even though I love the '87-'93 style too. Sorry!

Yeah, I broke my transmission. Oh well, I'll now get my first lesson in rebuilding a transmission.
All weekend long, I had been having trouble shifting into 3rd gear (this Tremec has been causing me problems from the time I took it out of the box). Yesterday, I missed/ground 3rd gear AGAIN and ran a 13.3 @ 103 (when it goes in smoothly, I'm running 12.50's @ 108-109). So, I got pissed and reamed the shifter back and forth, breaking something inside (roll pin?) It wasn't a problem though, as I still had 3rd, 4th and 5th gears. Yes, I was going to drive it home.
While on Route 1, we pulled into Kelly's Famous Roast Beef for dinner and I lost 4th and then 3rd gear. I literally had to coast into their parking lot. After dinner, my brother and friend Brian Soldevilla (Cranberry colored 99GT running 11.80's) pushed me out of my space and 3rd and 4th gears came back to life! That got me out onto Route 1 and back into the passing lane for 5th gear. All was well until we hit the Tobin Bridge in Boston. I lost 3rd and 4th gears again so I told my brother to pay for me at the toll and I cruised on through. From that point on, I stayed in 5th gear. All the way down Route 93, through the split onto Route 128, onto Route 24, and finally onto Route 495. I got off my exit in Wareham and nursed the clutch through 3 Red lights and 1 stop sign to my house. I didn't burn it up and I guess paying extra money for a Centerforce dual friction clutch was well worth it. I'm now going to get a lesson in fixing this crappy transmission and I'm going to fix it better than what the factory built.
All in all, I had a great time. I met a ton of nice people, got cool comments about the car and have memories that will last a lifetime.
Oh yeah, Ken, Kate and myself met up with Jared (Sweet '83) and his wife Patty and son Denver. They hung out with us for a few hours. It was cool meeting someone else from this great website, especially when they drove 7-8 hours down from Canada to meet us. Way to go guys and have a great week on vacation. Also, good luck with the birth of your new baby in a couple of months!
