FRIDAY JULY 13th, 2007
10th Anniversary Pony Trails – “The Kings of Cruise!” July 13th, 2007

Welcome one and all to the 10th Anniversary Pony Trail!

This year we plan to trot onto the Edmonds/Kingston ferry, canter over the Hood Canal bridge, and sprint your pony down a quarter mile drag strip.

We will begin by corralling the vehicles in two locations. One at Bellevue Community College for those living/staying near the Bellevue area, and the other is at North Seattle Community College for those in the Seattle area. Lead cars from each location will guide vehicles to the point of departure…the Edmonds ferry.

The trail continues west via Washington State Ferries across Puget Sound to Kingston(current fare is $11.25 car & driver, and $6.50 per each additional passenger). From there, it’s on to historic Port Gamble, across the Hood Canal floating bridge, and to the small town of Quilcene. The last leg is down one of the most beautiful drives in western Washington, Highway 101. The trail ends at Shelton’s Sanderson Field, the Port of Shelton

Sanderson Field has plenty of wide open spaces to display our proud ponies. They also have an inactive runway where organized drag races are held by the Shelton Drag Strip Association (www.sheltondragstrip.org (http://www.sheltondragstrip.org/)) , and we have been invited to participate in the event($20 fee to race all day or $5 to watch). So if you’ve ever had the urge to run your steed down the quarter mile, here’s your chance! The only requirements are a battery hold down, seat belts, and no broken glass.

The chuck wagon will be provided by various food vendors and 10th Anniversary Pony Trails apparel will be available.

To round out the day’s activities the Little Creek Casino is just minutes away offering dinner and entertainment. So, come and enjoy the 10th Anniversary Pony Trail!
