Early Cobra's were 79-81 (and late fox Cobras were 93)...there were no 84 Cobra's. However, 84 Gt's had either the 5.0 HO or the 2.3T motor.

Unless it's a canadian car, werent they called cobras because the name mustang was taken?

I believe that cobra's were available in Canada the entire fox production run. GT Cobra's that is. I would think they got the same engine as the US GTs got.

Yes, there were Cobras in 1984. They were Canadian cars that were equivalent to the GTs in the US.
The original post asked about the "HO" designation and yes, the Canadian 1984 Cobras had the HO motor.
But...remember HO in 84 and HO in 82 and HO in 85 and HO in 87 are very very different animals all with different horsepower and the early ones were not roller motors or even had roller blocks.

Kinda thought so, 79-81, and I don't think this motor is from Canada. He must have the year or engine wrong.

The price of it came down, he wanted about $1100 last time I was looking about a month ago. I'm no rocket scientist but that seems high priced even for $800. This dude's also got a t-5 world class(so he says) in little tiny pieces for $400.

He's on crack. The engine is worth $300 tops, if it's got low miles. The trans is worth $50-75. If it was assembled, maybe $100.

weren't the 84 predators or dominators (i always mix the two up) considered cobras?

Sir, The predator cobra is often called , "COBRA", . It can be Identified by the badge under the hood on the driverside neat the shock tower.
The car should have a 66 Shelby hood scoop, a rollbar, G.T.302 badges on the hatch and passenger side dash ,and stripes.Valve covers will either have Cobra or Predator on them.
They were made from 83-86 and sold by Ford Dealerships all over the USA.
All but 2 Predators came with 302 HO engines, the 2 that did not were #1 a SVO version, and #2. A 429cj Prototype both of which are confirmed by the Manufacturer and the Registry.
There is also a Can. cobra. which came with a 302 HO engine.
The Dominator had stripes like the Predtor but had no hood scoop or rollbar, but did come with a 302 HO also.
I hope this helps you. If you have anymore questions email me a

Doesn't surprise me, I don't know the guy but he seems the type. He's going to be sitting on it for a long time.
