Here is the thread were I bought the car:

http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthread.php?t=40736&highlight=gt350

It's home! Come to find out it is one of the VP cars, vin: 1fabp28m8ef180460.

I was going to resto mod the car, but I am thinking about seeing if I can locate the original block, the gentleman that had the car prior to me, bought the car for the engine and transmission(the car had a roller cam engine), still has the original transmission.

The "VIP" G.T.350s were convertibles. The above VIN is a hatchback.

Sixteen convertibles were purportedly produced at the request of several Ford executives. These are referred to as "VIP convertibles", or "VIP cars", etc.

The production run of 20ths anniversary Mustangs had ended, they had made 5000 examples, then some Ford executives wanted a copy, plus some dealers ( most were Canadian) were upset they did not get a example to sell so they made a limited run for them. That's were the 261 extra's come in. They were later vin numbers where the last 6 of the VIN started with 18 , rather than 17, thats what I was told. I was told there were hatchbacks and convertibles made. I was told this by Ford in the 80's when I worked at a Ford dealer. If some has corrected or additional information, please let me know.

From the above 'site:

Production began in March of 1984 and continued through the end of April. The cars were built in batches until 5245 untis were completed. However, there were an additional 15 units built in may at the request of several Ford Executives, and 1 Final Convertible Built in June.

ALL but the first few Anniv. Mustangs Consecutive unit numbers start with "17". There were 5 or 6 early Anniv cars produced with their consecutive unit numbers beginning with "16" and a few "late" Anniv. Stangs produced toward the end of production starting with "18".

Well one thing for sure is that this car is a late one, It would be cool if it was built in May. Here are some pictures as it was dropped off yesterday ( on my birthday!). I have to pull the hoist off the trailer to open the door and see when it was built.

Yes, I am. The other day I had a couple friends over and my cars on the front lawn, someone stopped by, they thought we were having a garage sale with all the cars in the lawn. My son thought we were having a car show, then he told me I needed to park my truck out back, because it wasn't cool.

That's a nice looking car, all right! So, how many people have knocked on your door to see if one of your cars is for sale?

:)
