I have just started to restore the body on my cat.Is there some place that sells the decals.I need the cat in the circle.Did those cars come with gold badges or is that just some aftermarket thing. If someone knows the measurement of the 5.0 badge on the fender and the spacing ,where the capri letters go on hood.My car was wrecked before I bought it.Don't think their in the right spots.

Thanks in advance for any help

I am sure that someone here will have some good info on how to get the needed striping. As I recall, the Crimson Cats did not come with the cat head, however. I would love to know why Ford dropped it when production was switched from the Black Magic to the Crimson Cat.

I'd love to help on the spacing of the letters. However, I can advise that they look wrong when they are on the hood. I bought my car new and took off the lettering first thing in 84. Next was the Mercury lable that has a slot in the grill. I prefered the car without those items on the front end:D . Much cleaner;) . As stated above, I'm not so sure that the circle cat is factory:confused: . My neighbor had a Crimson Cat, and I don't recall seeing a circle cat sticker on his car...

The Crimson Cats I have seen have mostly been without the cat head. All the literature shows no cat head on the front fender.

I think I have seen 1 with it.

Here is a literature picture:

All emblems appear to be gold. I would think the 5.0 would be too.

The literature photo that Mike linked reminds me of something. The change to the three-bar grill by the time the Crimson Cat came into being really affected the appearance of the Black Magic/Crimson Cat. The older grill was soooooo gold, due to the additional bars, while the three-bar until merely looks to be gold accented.

I have the three bar grill,I took it out and put it up while I raced the car.The GS grill lets less air under the hood.

You mean the 5 bar 79-82 grill? All Capris got the 3 bar in 1983...regardless of trim level....gs or rs.

Actually, as best I can remember, The 5 bar grille was all 1 piece. On the 3 bar, the piece that was painted gold on my Black Magic (and my 85 ASC McLaren) was removable and probably why it was gold. Not that it matters, Crimson cats would have had a 3 bar.
