I'm down in Mexico City on buisness and, as usual my favorite hobby seems to be odd four-eye hunting.
Spotted this Hybrid Coupe in the airport:

What is interesting, is the myriad of combinations I see in the pre-85 cars here. Really the pre-84's seem to be a true mix and match of the Ford parts bins as they were built in country.

thats cooli i want one but i still feel it just doesn't look right w/o the flares and the capri front end
That...Is awesome. I'd love to have a Capri-nose/tail notchback...Mostly so I could tell the folks that would invariably whine about it not being original to get bent.

I had an 81 notch and an 83 Capri parts car, so when I needed new bumpers for the notch (it was an autocross car) I used the Capri bumpers. Got all kinds of odd looks.

When I was in Monterrey Mexico 9 years ago I saw cars badged as Mustang with Capri front and rear bumpers and the bubble back glass with a spoiler. I believe Ford sold the Mustang in Mexico using Capri body parts or else rebadged Capri's as Mustangs.

Nope, mines good old fashioned "I got a '79 Ghia coupe without a straight panel on it, and a clean 4 banger capri with no floorpans.... Hmm..." domestic engineering. I liek the way it came out, much better without the solid yellow paint too.

Yeah, I ditched the bogarts, not real road freindly, got some old-school solid centerline autodrags and polishing them out, 15x3.5 front with skinnys and 15x9 for the back, it spends most of its time at the track or the rare cruise, so I'm running 26x10.5x15 MT ET Streets (old style 3 groove bias-ply) I'm gunning for the local badass of 1982 look. :)
At the moment I'm sportin 10 holes till the polishing job gets done, plus theres a set of Word 180 irons, a victor jr and a 125 powershot plate (OLD SKEWL!!) that needs to get on there. But at lease its clean in this pic with the peanut butter trick on my black plastics.

Thanks everybody for your positive comments on the car, its cool to see your car get attention in the mustang world for being different and retro. :)
Maybe I can buff it out one more time and get it in a photo shoot, I doubt MM&FF or 5.0 has ever seen one..lol..
