Yeah, this car is definitely worthy of a General BS discussion.
If you think about it though, that's still a pretty lame investment. MSRP on the car was $15,922 according to the ad. Let's assume he paid $15,000 for it. Adjusted for inflation that $15,000 is now $29,796, as the inflation rate for that time period is 98.64%. So, not including the substantial costs of storing the car for 23 years, he has to get almost 30 grand for it just to break even. Now if you took the same $15,000 and put it in a savings account earning 3% compounded monthly, you would now have $29,880 and you wouldn't have incurred any storage fees, however you would have paid taxes on the interest. Still, from an investment standpoint, he would have been better off to have left the money in a savings account.
Now, just think where he would be now had he bought $15,000 worth of Microsoft or WalMart stock back in 1984.......

So I guess you were not high bidder when it went to 26,000?

Beware of never titled cars.
Dealers have been known to pull speedo cables and drive around the cars with just using their dealer plates on. I have seen several like this.

I never understood why people buy cars, and keep them with no miles, and then sell them, when they could make more by investing the money. I worked at a ford dealer, in '01, someone traded in a MINT 1999 anniversary GT convertable, with 1400 miles on it. It had the window sticker framed in the back seat. He traded it in on a bullitt. He took a crazy loss on trade in, and then traded the bullitt in later with 2300 miles, for an f150. took another loss! All that effort to keep the car like a collectors item, and then just trading it in anyway, i don't get it. he could have beat the hell out of the cars, and got the same on trade in anyway.

While that is a beautiful car, I would invest my money elsewhere. As soon as it hits the road, there's always that danger. I don't think it would appreciate that much over the initial investment. IMO

the only thing I can think of is someone in my situation...wanting a brand new vehicle, but having a company vehicle issued to them..if I bought a new car, the most i'd drive it would be 2k a year because of already having an issued dd....that's why I don't buy a new car, it just doesn't make sense.

That's the type of car that belongs in someone's collection. After 23 years with virtually no miles, it's destined to be a show queen. If I had the money and a warehouse like Floyd Garrett's, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. It's a beauty!

Well I'd love to have it. One of my lottery fantasies is to build the Mustang Museum that the MCA and Ford could never seem to get off the ground. A car like this would make a perfect display model. I'd have to win the lottery first of course. Until then I'll just have to keep them as desktops.
Also looks to be the same person who was selling this low mileage Pace Car awhile back?

Very cool car but even if I had the money, I wouldnt buy it. I like to drive em and there would just be too much guilt to contend with. I would rather have a nice driver for say $7500 and that leaves a lot of beer money left over.:pimp:

Anyone else notice that the odo looks like it may have already rolled over 99 999 miles? If you look at the pic you'll see what I mean. I just don't get a very good vibe about this car, I dont think he's being completely honest about everything!
Oh yeah, and it still has the original oil.....Come on! The oil must have been changed and if not it can't be good for the engine when its started, condensation? That fact would not increase the value of the car any would it?

Judging from the seats and overall condition of the interior it looks like an original 98 mile car to me. I think getting the interior "right" is one of the hardest parts of a restoration and this one doesn't look restored.
As Negusm said it may have had the speedo cable pulled so that may account for the odometer looking funky.

Every time a low mile car comes up, people always say how the odo numbers are not straight.
I have owned ALOT of Mustangs. ALOT. Somewhere around 60-70. I cant remember a single one that had straight numbers.
