Hello everybody. I'm new to the site, but have been into Mustangs for years.
I just bought an '84 GT 350....for CHEAP! It's the 4cyl turbo. Seems to have very few options. No A/C , manual windows & locks, no cruise, and I don't think it has rear defrost. It does have a sunroof and the TRX package. The car is all original. Down to the factory radio. It has a few miles on it, and it's far from being cherry. Not bad though. Of course it is missing the dash emblem and the two side mouldings on the front fenders. Anyone have these?
So I know the car is pretty rare, but what about with these options?
I'll post pics if anyone is interested.

The horseshoe is still available from a dealer on eBay for $125
i think its a Copy tho....
The last real one I saw on ebay went for $280 bux

The fender mouldings show up too...I just saw some used ones recently.
They are not reproduced as far as I know.

I haven't cleaned it up at all. The guy I bought it from said the shifter linkage was broke. Well as you know, T-5s don't really have any "linkage" . It was just one bolt for the shift lever missing. Seems to run pretty good. Smoked a little at start up. Then cleared up. The interior is not bad. One tear in the bottom of the drivers seat and the normal cracked dash. There is some rust along the bottoms of the doors. Also pretty common.
So what do you guys think it's worth?

Excellent, it makes me happy every time I hear about another survivor. I have to ask, how much did you give for it???

Yeah I hate to see these cars scrapped.
Well... was $300 too much?

I was wondering what happened to it, it was on Denver Craiglist last week and I e-mailed him and got no response. Glad you got it, by the way the smoking when you start it up is valve stem seals. Use 88 turbo coupe ones for replacements they work really well and last longer than the origionals.
I will give you twice that if you want to sell it,

I would have bought that car for 4 times what you paid for it.

Yeah. I was a little surprised at his asking price. That's what he wanted though. So I guess we were both happy.
So where should I look to find a few parts I need? I need a shifter boot, some seat material and the side mouldings on the fenders. Also I would like to repair the bottoms of the doors. I don't want to replace the drivers door because of the data tag. Any recommendations?
Thanks guys ! So far this site has been GREAT!

The mouldings might be tough but you should be able to find the shifter boot at any junkyard. New seat material can be had but its pricey.

You have a couple options for the door. You can either replace the bottom part of the door skin or you can actually replace the door and have another data sticker made. I know there is someone around that can make one for you.

As for the mouldings.....for now...take the others off carefully and you can use the red bumper stripe inset in there for now. It doesn't look bad at all with that.
At least until you find some.

SMS I think was the company name on the seat material....yep pricey as greg said. But do look nice.

The thin moldings are the same as SVO's.. still, hard to find.

Also, on the rarity.. I bet it's pretty high, as according to the Fox-Body Mustang Recognition Guide, "many" GT-350s were ordered with every option, including the TRX.. but the combo of 2.3T (which was a couple hundred more than the V8 ), manual window/lock, TRX, sunroof, no A/C.. being as how there were only approximately 362 2.3T hatchbacks (according to www.gt350mustang.com), I'll take a shot in the dark and say its only a double digit number.. I don't think there is any way to find out exactly just yet, but there is a person working on it, the same guy who did it for the old old Mustangs.

Well I found one of the mouldings. So that's a start. I also actaully owned another one of these cars several years ago. It was a 2.3 turbo also. Only it had power windows , locks, defrost, A/C, cruise, tilt and a radio delete. I sold it to a friend of mine who still has it. I think he has a few of the mouldings. We saw a 5.0 GT 350 in a pick & pull junk yard a few months ago and got all we could.
I may try and find another seat to use as "parts" for the material.
I'd be really interested if I could have a nice door data tag made. It's pretty easy to find rust free doors around here. Not easy to replace pieces.
Thanks for all the replys guys!

SWEET! I was wonderng if we were ever going to see that one again , or if a butcher got it to part out. Nice save!

Try mergiuers cleaner wax to clean up the white mouldings , and that purple non abrasive Gojo hand cleaner to clean up the red ones.

Welcome, and for everybody, a question. Did the scoop on this car come only with the turbo option? I have not seen the rear facing scoop on any other GT-350s so I am assuming all the others I have seen are the 5.0s. I built the MPC model version of this car and put on the scoop and then never saw any with it.

Yes, it 84, only the turbo cars got the scoop. It was actually needed for clearance. In 83 all GT's got it.

Hows the part search going on the car? I'm trading David for his 84 gt 350 2.3l. He's got me painting his other hatch that he picked up. He said that hes got it running pretty good for me. Hope hes right
