At long last, here is my first photo of the (White) Black Magic Capri that a friend from high school bought new and still owns. If this works out ok, I will add some more photos later.

The photo is crisp and beautiful, and I am crossing my fingers that the scanned version looks ok.

Please note that he still has the gold TRXs. He put on the turbines when the TRX tires became too expensive. I am not a big fan of the gold mudflaps, but he put them on the car when it was brand new, and he decided to leave them on all these years.

I want this car so bad.

The photo was taken this year. The owner had the Capri parked in his quonset behind a giant pile of corn, and therefore had to wait until the corn was removed in order to get the car, wash it and take the photo.

I have seen one in person as well. I went back after joining this site because at the time when I saw it I knew it was a capri but I didn't know it was special. A friend of mine was interested in buying it but the guy had it crushed.

Looks great, I think the gold trx wheels really set these cars off.
Whats with the 5.0 emblem ?

Good question. I wonder whether it was centered that way to fit between the pinstriping or whether they were removed and put back in the wrong place later.

Other blakc and white magics I have seen do not have those in that location.

I was too lazy to dig out other photos, and knew that you would get back to us on the subject. Mike, you have set yourself up as such an expert that you are encouraging sloth in the rest of us . . . which is a good thing for my lazy butt.

Getting back to the point at hand, I will need to ask my old friend about this issue. My unsubstantiated guess is that he had the car repainted at some point, and the shop failed to replace the badges in the correct location.

Now that the misplaced badges has been pointed out, my eyes are drawn to them every time that I look at the photos and it is making me crazy.

I thought the 5.0 badges weren't used until 1984 on any fox chassis Mustang or Capri

5.0 badges started in 1979. They disappeared, along with the engine, in 80 & 81, and returned in 1982, along with the return of the 302/5.0.
