it runs finally, has a bit of a miss at idle and through out the rpm range but if you crack the throttle quickly it seems to run fine it doesnt go away as the engine warms up either. i double checked the wiring and all seems fine, any ideas?

try some injector cleaner , see if that solves your problem , also what gap are your plugs set @ , the condition of your plug wires , and cap .
I always use a cap with copper contacts . Autolite plugs.

The 2.3t is notorious for a very slight intermiten miss at idle.
2.3t also respon very well to original motorcraft ignition parts.

most of the things on this are new. gap on plug is set at .035.
this isnt a slight miss its enough that the motor shakes and its there throughout the rpm range. i might swap out the dizzy with a known good one.

Whats the timing set at, and do you have a vacuum gauge. Also is the ECU throwing any codes.

Cause i've had it where the engine shakes a few times. And it was a few things...timing, distturbotor plug loose, VAM disconnected, vacuum leak, and the easy one...blown head gasket :D
Hopefully its something small like your vam wiring or a loose plug.
Stock timing is 10 degrees with the spout out.
