hi i picked up a 86 LTD V6 not to long ago. i am wanting to switch it to the 5.0 of corse. and i am needing all kind of info and parts. so i hope you all can help me out.

well so can i take out the V6 and the 3 speed auto, and then just bolt in the 5.0 and the 4 speed auto? or do i need a different crossmember? and tranny mount? motor mounts too?

also can i use the floor shifter from a 87-93 Mustang in this swap? it currently has the dash shifted 3 speed auto. but i really would like to have the floor shifter of corse.

can i use the current tbfi or would it just be easier to use carb on the 5.0? and what extra parts would i need to use on the carb 5.0? and can i leave the wireing there for later so i can change it to MPFI from a 97-93 stang?

is there any website that has specs or info on this swap or the car in general?

well sorry for the long post ...

It can be done.... and actually there is a LTD LX that would be a great donor car. The owner says it's frame is rusted fairly bad... but the parts are worth saving.

Basically you can do anything to the LTD that you could do to a FOX Mustang. It will all swap on.

The dimples for aligning the floor shifter are already in the hump. I've converted the previous 79 Fairmont Futura I had from a column shift to a floor shift w/o any issues. Just some hole cutting and all. The column can be taken from a Mustang. I think the AOD would swap right in... but I've not done it... I'm not sure.

You should go carb or SEFI... CFI is a PITA to deal with. Since your car already has the EFI stuff on it... it would be more better to go SEFI from a Mass Air Mustang. And go with the Roller cam motor too. CFI doesn't like the lower vacuum of the Roller Cam'ed engines... it tends to "freak out" and run "ok."

The people here on FEP would beable to help you with alot of the questions you will have.

Just remember... if you can do it to a Mustang... you can do it to a LTD.

yeap that would be a good donor car, it looks like he has already started parting it out. i wish i had the money to have bought it when he was selling it as a hole car, but it would have cost alot to get it here to Texas.

but thanks for the info
