i cant figure this all out for the life of me. the turbo has water connections as well as the oil cooler and then the one that comes off the lower intake and the ones for the heater. anyone have some good diagrams or pics?

The 84 motor did not have coolant lines running to the turbo, it was oil only cooled. You have a replacement turbo or a 85 or 86 one. The is one lline comming from the water pump goes around under the turbo around the block and into the oil cooler, out of the oil cooler into the heater core out of the heater core back under the turbo to the thermostat housing. By the way you cannot get those lines any more. There are replacements being made that take the 86 route which will run water to the turbo too. I forget who is making them but they have new sets on e-bay or a regular basis. Seems like they were around $200 for new stainless ones. hope this helps.

Unless you're not so bright in the head and run the car WOT until shut down the water lines are not a requirement.

And www.forced4.com sells the stainless lines.

Thank KCoker, Ive been getting ready to run mine also. Which line is in and out on the heater core? Or does it matter?

Doesnt really matter but I think the one close to the drivers side is inlet. The hose size is different so you might have to match up the size line to each side.

thats what i thought about the turbo water lines. how are those hooked up? it looks like they had it coming out of the intake, into the turbo and then i cant figure out where it would go to then.

Also i remember the hot and cold sides of the turbo being about the same size on stock ones, the cold side is noticably larger. it says air research on it. ill see if theres any numbers.

I got so much to learn about this turbo stuff :P

The water line comming out of the water pump has a (T) comming off of it to the turbo then the line comming out of the turbo dumps into the side of the block. Should be a pipe thraded hole for a nipple just under the turbo.

That orange thing. Thats the upper one.

I broke mine though and don't plan on installing them on the T3 anytime soon .

You can see the routing to some extent in this picture.....

If you look through the others, there are some more shots. If you need something specifc, please let me know.

Hey, also a heater core saver.........

Stock these cars had a restrictor pressed into the heater core inlet hose. Most are long gone with heater core hose replacement.

On any cars I build that see high RPM I use a 3/8th's socket. Just find a socket that is snug fitting inside the hose and shove it in further then what the heater core pipe pushes in. Just MAKE SURE its on the inlet side and not the outlet side or it does more harm then good.

Yeah I think I got that sort of problem because of my crappy hoses I ended up leaking all my coolant out after some spirited driving
