Wanting to plan a get-together/cook out in Indiana!!!

Hey all. You guys have really got me going about this cook out thing. I would really like to host one in Indiana. We have some land that we could all park on. I could probably get a DJ for it. I was really thinking about opening this up to all Fords/Mercury's (mainly mustangs and capris hopefully). There are a bunch of us that hang out, but most of them have areo nose mustang's. There's just not too many 4 eyes around here. But there's 4 of us that have 4 eyes (if you count both of mine and ryan's one, then there's a total of 5 4 eye cars). Anyway, I was just wondering how many would be interested in comming to a shin-dig like this. I think it would be a blast.

The little group of us (around here) have been wanting to do this for a while, but no one has set a date yet. I bet ya we could even have a burn out contest in the road (joys of living in the country!) I know it could be a blast. Please post here if you would be interested in comming. I have to check the show schedule to set a date, but I wanted to check and see if there was even an interest in it.

Im really excited about this and I hope some of you would like to join us. I would LOVE to come to one of your guy's get togethers but I havent found one close enough to me to go yet. I wouldn't mind just taking off for a long road trip to go to one. But with the kid and gas prices, its kinda hard for me to do. I'm still planning on trying to find one I can go to anyway.

Well, I'll stop rambling, just really excited, and would like to get the planning started. I'm thinking late summer or early fall. Maybe even in a month or two. Who knows!

ssetting the date is easy....just make it the 3rd saturday in August...that's the "world-Wide 4-Eye BBQ" day. You will work your arss of trying to get the word out in the "events" forum because very few read this section, and if you post anything in the BS section, it gets moved before your IP address is recorded.....ya, it bothers me, so I have to work much harder to make anything happen.

Well thanks Neil. So my question would be, what is the best way to get the word out??? I would really like to have a few from this site come. I'm not so sure we could get it ready to have it that soon.... I guess I'll just see how much interest we have.

Sounds like fun. But where at in Indiana are you located? I am in central Illinois. By champaign. I would be like to come if you are close enough and I am not busy. I won't be able to bring the Capri. It is uninsured and has no licens. I am working on it slowly. But hey I got it running again.

From the (now locked) thread in the General BS section, you're located in Middletown, IN. Google Maps says that's just southwest of Anderson, right off I-69. For those of us in the C-U area it'd probably be a two-hour drive, barring serious traffic mess...But I've never known Indy's traffic to be all that bad.

We are located in Middletown, IN zip 47356. It is just a few minutes from Anderson. The traffic around Indy usually isn't bad as long as you don't get into town and stay on the outskirts (ie: 465 or something of that nature). I would put up a map, but I'm not sure how to do that, I just got the pictures going.... Well, just thought of something, I'll give it a shot, got an idea how to do it.

Like I said before, I'm not going to say that only 4 eyes can come to this one. We have many friends with the aero-nose cars and I want them to be able to come. We would like for it all to be Ford and Mercury, but my dad will probably have one of his Chevy's here (cant tell dad he cant come!...lol).

I'm going to go work on getting a rough map to this area, and if we make a go of it, then I will get a percise map to our place. I'm really excited about this. I plan to make up flyers and hand them out around here. I was thinking as well that we could have a SMALL entry fee type thing so that we can help with the food and a DJ. I think it would be really fun for all of us to get in a line and go for a cruise through town, that would be really cool. And if some want to stay later then we can have a bomb fire. Those are always fun.

Well, I was waiting on setting a date to see how many we had interested, but what the hell.

The third saturday in August it is!!! That should give everyone plenty of time to plan for it. This is going to be great! I'm having more fun planning this than I did when I planned my wedding.

Now you guys have to do me a favor and help get the word out. Like I said, this is open to all Ford's and Mercury's, ect.... So lets get as many as we can, and make this thing fun. I'll make up a flyer, might need to use some stuff off of yours Neil....

But since I can't really put anything in the BS section, we need to get the word out. So tell all you know. However I did notice that there is a thing in the BS now. I think the put it back on....hummm, makes a person wonder.
