Hi All,

Been lurking on the site for a while now and thought it was time to introduce myself as I just acquired a new foureyed ride.

I normally spend most of my time on SVO's and TurboCoupes but I saw the White Magic for sale on craigslist and realized what a rare and nice example it was so I made the deal and went and picked it up yesterday.

The car is a real survivor that appears to be all original with no mods or hacking done over the years. I can't believe how original and 99% complete it is. Just a few nicks and scratches, no dents and some very minor surface rust in some of the normal places. It was undercoated when new. It just needs a good detailing, exhaust, brakes and a few odds and ends. Has A/C. PB, PS, Premium Radio, Rear Defrost, T/Tops, Tilt Wheel and a set of the original gold TRX wheels came with it.

Buck tag was there and the build sheet was right there under the carpet but still trying to decipher it as it is somewhat faded. I put some pics in my album and will be frequenting here more often looking for advice and suggestions from some fellow foureyed car enthusiasts as I start the process of fixing the few problems. I guess my SVO will go on the back burner for a few weeks.

Thanks for listening.

Awesome car. I want it. :(

I used to have one that had a sunroof. It was a 255/auto car. Mine was smashed and very rusty when I got it. I wanted to fix it but it was just too far gone.

The only slight negative is the 2.3 motor. I am one that has always bought or restored cars to their basic stock condition with maybe some minor mods to the turbo motors. In some ways I hate to change anything on an original car but what does everybody think about an upgrade to a 2.3 turbo motor?

It would still be somewhat original as it would still be a 2.3 motor, it would just have some more major mods. Just looking for opinions from the purists.

Tim,

Congrats on an amazing purchase. I am so envious. It is great to read that it is so original and in such great condition.

As a purist, I would beg you to leave the engine as is, despite it being generally unappealing. In the end, it is up to you, of course.

If you ever decide to sell this car, please post it for sale here first because I would be VERY interested. Before I die, I will own a white Black Magic.

Congrats again, Tim, and please do not be a stranger on the site.

Cool. Glad to see somebody here grabbed that. I think a turbo 4 wouldn't be out of line at all for that car and make it very enjoyable.

I thought you could add a turbo to the stock motor but really don't know for sure.

I'd take that engine out and install another 2.3/E.F.I. Turbo engine that makes 300+ rwhp. Talk to GT-350R on this site. He knows what to do to make those engines have enough power for high 11 - low 12 second quarter mile bombers.

A swap to a Turbocoupe motor is what I would consider, might be a good project this winter. I would just like to make the car a little more performance orientated while still trying to maintain its originality as much as possible. Have a fair amount of experience in the turbo motors but have never done a swap into a non turbo car. I guess the wiring mods is what would be the most challenging issue.

Great score on a rare survivor! :D

I think a 2.3T would be an awesome addition.

Very good score!!!
I am a bit of a purist and I would also say a 2.3T would be a great addition.

Ported e6 or a log, 50 trim hybrid, good intercooler, 3" exhaust, p&p on the head/valves and it would make one heck of a fun little screamer!

4.6 DOHC T56 or 3650 Conversion All the Way!

The fake scoop and Capri normal rise hood should give you the room for the plenium.

If not go all out on a built Eslinger type 2.3.

Think the 4.6 DOHC fits under a stock hood just fine...

...now a 5.4 DOHC...that'll require the extra head room ;)

welcome to the site

I LOVE that car. Words can't express how much I'd love to own a Capri like that one.

As for you swapping engine...hmmm I'd love to see the faithful little 2.3 left alone myself. However, if you were to mod it, I think the turbo 2.3 (EFI of course) would be the coolest swap you could do to it.

Found some TRX tires today, mounted the gold wheels and took a few more pictures. I posted them in my album.
