I have a 84 turbo head (inline intake) redone and I noticed when I held up my square 4 hole, I need a extra hole. Is it safe to drill and tap this head in that spot. If so, anyone know the size offhand?

Yup perfectly safe. Don't know the size but if you have a spare bolt you can use it to find the size for the tap.

Yep. Go ahead and tap it.

I am eventually going to put a LA3 in there. It would be nice to use the 87-88 lower for the ACT bung. Is the shorter height in the lower piece or upper? I dont want to swith valve covers because I have mine all done up fancy like 8) 8)

Upper. Some say that the height difference doesn't actually interfere with a stock valve cover, but I have not checked this myself.

Upper.

If you want to use the stock VC you need to find the upper from a 85.5-86 Tbird or cougar. Commonly refered to as the "butt crack" intake which is also found on the 85.5-86 SVO.

Like this one.

Use the 87/88 lower with the ACT already in it and the 85.5/86 Tbird/Cougar upper to keep your stock VC.

What is the part number for the 87-88 lower intake? I think I have one in the garage.

Probably E7 something or other. Not sure if they used the same lower for Pre-87. I got a picture that "looks" like it says E5 though, but can't make it out clearly. Someone correct me.
