View Full Version : A "World-Wide Four-eye BBQ- Day" ?? Let's Plan It

Let's make the3rd Saturday in August , the "World-Wide Four-eye BBQ- Day".

On this date, all across the nation, and the rest of the world where our members are, there could be several gatherings, and then we could all report back to this site with the story and pictures....think it could work ?

It could be as small as 2 cars, or as large of a group as you could put together. No Aeronose cars. Older 4-eyes like Cougars, Galaxies, Fairmonts, or "special" Ford/ LM products would be ok...( SOHC 427 StreetRod, or Thunderbolt Fairlane for example )

Pick up the phone or drop the e-mails and let's get this thing going !!! Make a list and keep it for the following year, with names and GOOD contact numbers. Make up simple flyers to take to carshows to hand out to any owner of a 4-eye car. You could offer "Free Burgers for joining FEP". These cars do not have to be show quality, just an owner that likes his car. YOU are the only connection to FEP that most owners of our cars will ever have contact with..make the most of it, dangle the carrot.

Very ambitious.

Boy, where to start with that one? :) Talk about bias... ;) How 'bout we just have a "Neil Throws a Big Ol' Barbeque for Everyone He Knows Who Has a Cool Car Day". Then we just take pics of the cars like, four-eyes all together, older cars all together, then a big group pic, etc.

I understand shade may be a concern... have we considered renting a tent? If everyone chips in, may be doable. I'm ready, willing, and able to make a contribution towards the BBQ Fund for August, and I'll bet others are, too.

Lee, one of my properties is 3.5 acres of flat, grassy field. On the west end is a row of fir trees on the property line. I worked 4 days to trim them up and I believe they will do OK for shade. On the east end is a huge birch tree that will absolutly give enough shade, but that area of the field is not "riding mower" flat like the other end is. I also have a 10 by 20 framework that costco sells for a car shelter, and I can round up a tarp so the people cooking can be in the shade too. Everybody that attends needs to bring folding chairs and drink of choice. The parcel of land is 240 X 660 feet and the house is 350 feet from the road, so lots a room. Could even set up a vollyball net. I will be renting a potty. Ladies and kids are welcome.

Today I went to a car show in Stanwood...400 cars...not one 4 eye car. I had hoped to pass out a flyer I made, but no cars. So I took a little drive around some of the housing projects that are new in my area and found a black GT, 84 anniversary vert, a 85 GT vert, and a silver 82 stang. They all got flyers. These are never before seen cars in my area. Here is what the flyer says:

"Do You Own a '79 to '86 Mustang or Capri ?"

"Would you like to meet other owners of same ?"

My name is Neil and my son is Nelson. We each own a Mercury Capri. This year on Saturday, August 19th. we will have a BBQ for owners of said cars. Location will be 17911 Smokey Point Blvd. This is the first large field north of the Smokey Point Community Church, 3 blocks north of Alfy's Pizza. The gathering is for "four-eyed" cars only...No cars newer than '86 model year. This should become an annual event.

We are members of a website...www.foureyedpride.com a website dedicated to the preservation and restoring of the 79 to 86 four-eyed cars.
My handle on the website is: "WHTLTHR79RS"
and Nelson's handle is: "SchoolBoy"
Please visit the site and look us up.

If you are interested in the BBQ, which is a private, by invitation only event, then call me at 425-XXX-XXXX for more information.

Not all of the cars attending will be show quality as that is not a requirement, rather it will be a gathering of owners with a desire to preserve and improve what they do have. This is not a contest, no prizes will be awarded. New friends will be made. If you know of someone that has a qualifing car, please pass this note to them. I expect between 25 and 40 cars. The cost to attend has not been set as yet, but it will reasonable. Not doing this to make a profit, just to promote the cars and the website.

Please give me a call with your information and a good contact number, and I will add you to the list.

( There may be a few "special" Ford / LM cars as well, of my own choosing.)

......Any member of FEP reading this can copy this flyer and promote your own BBQ.

Neil, Have you had anyone show interest from down my way? I see there are some folks who post here that are from Arizona. How about you southern California guys? It doesn't have to be a "CAR SHOW" it can be a "bring your not so perfect Fox car and let's eat and hear what your plans are for it" show. Ken.

Ken, please don't confuse my "Northwest BBQ" with the "world-wide 4-eyed BBQ day". I thought I would throw out the idea to the rest of the membership to have a bunch of gatherings everywhere of different sizes just to see what happens. I would hope the So.Cal. guys would jump all over this for their own gathering. I had a BBQ last year, and had a good time...fed 31 people. This year I have around 40 cars on the list, you just never know how many make it, even when they say they will, and most of them are not FEP members. I will work on that !! I believe Skye had a track day on the 19th, but you try to put something together and let's see what happens. We could call the posts.."Arlington BBQ-06" or " So.Cal.BBQ-06" that way we can keep track in the years to come, and how the different areas grew..ect.

Don't be suprised if you see a yellow Futura with Arizona plates with an old man behind the wheel next year. If all goes well with the 6 speed :D , and I don't crash the car I hope to experience the dream cruise, Ken.

This "flyer" was included in my reply to f4fntm above....you must have missed it...AND...this just below it:

......Any member of FEP reading this can copy this flyer and promote your own BBQ.

I have you on my list to attend my BBQ in Arlington, cause you missid it last year. So I need to know if you want to drive up to my event ( I understand the length of the trip ) or are you going to have your own event in Oregon? Just let me know...cause I need a head count to order food.
As a reminder to all that decide to do a BBQ on the 19th, please take pictures and give us all a report with the LOCATION of your event..

82ttops, I just sent you a copy of my official flyer that I am handing out to 4 eye owners...do what you want with it...be sure and take pics of your event and post to FEP afterwards...this is going to be cool. Some of the cars will be less than pretty, but the point is to just get them together. Some will remain "daily drivers" and others may get the bug to start working on improvements. I think the rattiest Mustang will have to travel about 200 feet across the road to attend, but she has a heart of gold.
