I will be there saturday. This is the first time I will be going. Is there anything I should know? Good places to park? How long will I wait in traffic coming to and going from the show on Saturday? Where are the parts and literature vendors?

I am going friday and saturday.I would like to enter my car in the show but not sure if I am or not.Go early or sit in traffic is what I have found. They are making it harder each event to park for free on the street.I always like going in gate one which is where the flea market starts.Last year they had the Boss Mustangs there.

How early should I be over there to avoid the traffic backups? Also, what time should I head out in the evenings to avoid backups?

From my experience traffic starts backing up around 6:30am-7:00am.This is just a guide because you never know.At this time you can still drive in but not without a delay.I think the gates open at 7:00am.A work day you have less people going but you have work traffic.Saturday you have more people but little work traffic.I would say you wouldn't want to get to the turnpike exit between 8:00am-10:00am because it would be the worst but I always am inside by 7:30am.I think alot of peaople leave the events around 12:00pm and 3:00pm.Usually after being there for 4 or 5 hours people are ready to go.

the key is to get there in the early morning and park in the school lot next to the fleamarket befor the renters arrive to park people. as far as vendor space I will call my bud and see space location for "four eyed pride" rally point PM me if you want to meet up and I will supply cell to reach me there

I will be there of course, walking around taking pics as the FEP Admin on location snapping pics with my ever crappy camera. I should be rather easy to spot in my FEP T-Shirt and TurboFord hat ;)

I think we were planning on coming in to town from Interstate 81 from the Harrisburg area. We are probably going to get there around 9am so I guess we may sit in some traffic. We plan on leaving later in the evening around 5pm probably.

I'll tell you the back way. From your way, either take the T.P. to 15 towards Gettysburg about 15 miles in you will see 94 for York Springs. Make a right on the exit and take 94 North. It runs straight into Carlisle from the back way.
Or you can take 30 to York, then to Hanover connect with 94 in Hanover and go north to Carlisle.
I leave by 6:30 a.m. from Gettysburg (30 miles) and have never had a problem including all the spring and falls.
It is gonna rain Friday (as freakin usual) so no problem with traffic.

Thanks for the directions! I am coming from Hershey after stopping at my girlfriend's house. I think we will use 15 to 94 and in that way. That should work well for us. I plan on leaving Lititz between 6 and 7am so that way I can get to Hershey and then to Carlisle no later than 9am. I plan on sticking around through the afternoon until about 3 or 4 at least.
What about using 15 south to 74 and in that way? That would prevent us from driving as far south. Lisburn Rd. also looks like it could work. How congested would they be?

Forget Lisbun Road.
The best way I found is to allways come in from the South West. The Interstate Aproaches are insane most of the time.
Good Luck

Turns out I won't be going this year. We are trying to buy a house right now and cash and time is ultra tight. I can't justify spending $9 to get in, then paying for parking, eating, and the fuel to get there and back. Plus, the next day I have to be up to go to Hersheypark. There's always next year.

I have a sizeable number of photos from the event if anyone is interested ---- mostly of the 79-86 Mustangs and the EXP / LN7 group ---- and then just random shots around the event.

Thanks!!!
We had about 13 EXPs / LN7s there this year. For the owner's club (fordexp.com), it was our first national meet ---- and, if I can brag on the group, we took home four awards.
This was my first year to go to Carlisle so I didnt take any of my cars with me.
Yes, I saw the Capris. I'm a big fan of them ---- and they were well-represented. Whether it's the mid/late 70s or the 80s versions, I'd love to have one in my driveway.
All the photos that I took while up in Carlisle / Harrisburg (all 800 of them), were taken with a 7.2 mega pixel Sony (big files) ---- so I guess I need to dig through them and I'll set up a posting (if that's cool with everyone).

This Black Magic Edition was among a few that caught my eye right away.
If it belongs to anyone, I have a 2594 x 1944 version that I can email to him/her.
It's a beauty!
Just let me know,

Let me go back through my pictures again. I will already say that I'm very sorry if I didnt take photos of your car.
Between the Ford Event, Carlisle (the town), Harrisburg (the town), the Pennsylvania farmlands and four flights (since I like aerial photography) ---- I shot around 800 pictures.
I could have easily taken a photograph of every car at the event (literally). They were all good. Since I own a Pinto, Mustang, EXP and a Galaxie 500, those were the areas in which I concentrated the most ---- but there were so many great cars there.
Additionally, this may come out wrong, but I wish that Carlisle would let me do the "official" photos of the event. All what I did was walk around (very quickly) and do "snapshots" (usually without even stopping) as I zoomed around the place. For one thing, it would have been my assumption that you would have been able to see the faces of the winners in their vehicles (but, perhaps, I'm being overly-critical on that aspect).
In the next few weeks, I'll be printing out photos from the event for my own personal scrapbook. Let me repeat what I said that, in my opinion, there were many many many beautiful rides.
