Hit in rear. I having it shipped from Utah for ~$1000. Once I get it here I'll see how bad it is. If it's fixable, I'll try to get that done. If not, it's going to donate its front end to the smashed-front '84 I have in my garage now.

It looks like a pretty good whack in the rear. It might cost too much to justify fixing it. It would need to go on a frame machine.
Is someone else other than me buying cars to the point where medication will soon be needed?

The '84 LX needs:
fenders (both)
grill
headlamp buckets
header panel
hood
radiator core support
and some miscellaneous stuff for sure
I haven't looked over it thoroughly.
And a buddy of mine still has a '84 copcar LTD at his father's shop. He only wants $200 for it. All it needs is a transmission so I coudn't bring myself to buy that and tear it apart for parts.
Foxchassis,
I think the UT car had power doors (looking for manual doors or at least manual LTD LX inner door panels). Anyway, I would be very interested in the rear deck lid if its rust free. Also the front fenders if they do not have the turning lights in them.
There were one or two other things on that car, need to find the e-mail I sent to the seller.
Thanks, zak

I hope you can repair it, because if you can't, you're spending a lot of money (including shipping) on a parts car.
Not to mention the fact that the front end parts you need for your wrecked car could be sourced from any standard LTD, and a running/driving LTD LX could be had for about $1500.

I've been looking local for any LTD, not hard mind you, but haven't had much luck. I did locate one on Autotrader.com in Sanford, NC (29 miles south of me) but it was gone by the time I called. Yeah it looks like a lot up front for the car. If I can't fix this one, and it ends up being a parts car, I'll have all the parts I need to fix my current LX, a transmission for the copcar my buddy has, an engine for the coolant- and oil-leaking and -burning engine in my '86 GT, and all other parts I don't need that I can sell to recoupe what I just paid.

Did you take the seller up on his offer to deliver or are you out of his range?

Out of his range by 1000 miles. And he'd be twice as expensive if delivered the full 2200 miles.

What company is shipping it?

I've decided on a company in Lorton, VA called Showroom Transport (http://www.showroomtransport.com). Member of the BBB and only one complaint (which was resolved) since Nov. '04. A LOT of the other companies I got quotes from had several dozen complaints, with quite a few unresolved or unanswered.

Ah, good deal then!
'cept it won't be a roller motor for your 86 GT.

She's rough on the outside and could use a cleaning on the inside but it's driveable as is. Just needs a battery, tune-up, and some brake work.
The car did come with these extra parts:

Now I have three 140 MPH speedometers (two in full clusters).
And good news from our CPA...the LX, getting it here, and keeping it going (fuel, insurance, maintenance, etc.) will be an income tax benefit if we use it for our home-based business. This thing may get the full treatment after it's straightened out...SN95 brakes, crate engine, shiney paint job,... ;)

Why buy an Ltd is the engine the same as a mustang sorry im a noob
^ The LTD LX was known as the "Four Door Mustang" for a reason. ;)
Yes, the late 1984 and the 1985 LTD LX's came with the same CFI 5L HO as the 1984 Mustang GT's with the automatic trani. Only around 3200 LTD LX's were produced.

Some of those extra parts will eventually find their way into the classifieds and or Ebay. ;)
Right now I have three 140 MPH speedometers, two in complete clusters and one alone. I've never had that many Mustang/Capri speedometers together at any one time!

Why buy a Mustang, the engine is the same as a 90s Explorer?

Well, this one is going to get parted out.
Got the vehicles moved around and this one is sitting in the garage where it can get stripped down. Then the '84 is going to get fixed and driven daily so the '95 GT vert can be saved for nice days.

So...have any of the "extra" clusters/parts made their way to "for sale" yet? :)
FoxChassis

I placed a "for sale" ad for the clusters almost two weeks ago. ;)
And we just organized the garage and got a whole pile of stuff I have no use for.
The Utah car will start getting stripped in a little while. Some parts are already wanted by zak and the current owner of ltdlx85's car that was sold on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1985-Ford-LTD-LX-RARE-collector-car-4-door-Mustang_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6783QQitemZ8055 437328QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW). The new owner happens to be a previous owner of my '84 LX. I asked her to stop by and say hi but she's only browsed the forums thusfar.
