Its not much...For this town its enough (until I can afford a decent build)
My car is an 86, I only have 98k on the motor. I was hoping to do this with out touching the internals I.E. bolt ons.
Well, what can I expect out of my set up as of now? Off road hpipe with no cats/Bullet mufflers stock ''headers'' BBK CAI and 4:10's.
I just need some help being steered in the right direction.
My car is also a 5spd if that helps...

I would think that with the mods you have now that you would be running low 14's.

Im not sure, Ive heard only mid-low 15's... I'm not sure how many 10th's I have knocked off with gears.
Anyone else running 4:10's? I've heard there to much at the track...but I'm not sure.

You should be there. Just get some good slicks.

Your car would run 15 stock.

Meh, get a T3 hairdryer on there, you won't have to unbolt anything, just bolt a few more things on. :D
Seriously though, you should be there already. Prep the suspension for drag, and you will be even better off.

Swap the upper part of your intake to a 87+ as well as the throttle body (should be near free, people give the stockers away), some underdrive pulleys, and disconect your sway bar. Bump your timing to 14* and you have enough to be in the 14s.

You've already got the power. Get better tires like Nitto Drag Radials (or even stickier ones like BFG or MT) and practice launching until you get 1.8x 60' times. Shift at 5000rpm max with that engine. The ET will hit the number you want. My stock '86 GT with bumped timing and K&N went 14.4 @ 90 waaaay back in 1989.

I agree, you've already got the power, but putting it to use, with that much gear and stock tires, will be a problem. With sticky tires I think your goal will be reached with ease. But on the other hand, maybe you should keep your stock tires, and take a picture for the Burn Out section of Car Craft, Ill bet you could burn them to the cords if you tried.

If you have time slips, post 'em. Seeing things like 60' times and trap speeds are a huge help in pointing you in the right direction. Also moving this to race since we're going after an ET...

I am ikind of gathering from your post as you have not run teh car at the track yet. You say you heard 15's. if you really want to get into the 14's I would suggest first taking it to the track and running it to see where you are at for a baseline forst of all. You might be supprised you might already be there. Do as the guys here have posted and you should be there as long as you can drive the car. It takes some practice so keep trying.

What altitude are you at? If you're at a high altitude it's going to be alot tougher..

Our track is a 1400ft I believe...
Right now our track is closed until June...
Thats why I was to get a decent set-up for this summer. Im looking for a OEM rebuild with either 3;73's or 4:10's. and boltons...Hope it will be enough.

Get the 4.10's, a small slick or wide M\T drag radial, bump the timing, & your car will suprise you.... 8)

I was thinking 4:10's!
Advance my timing to what? Should I adjust my fuel pressure at all?

Usually you can do 13 BTDC with a higher mileage motor & up to 15 BTDC if around 100,000 miles or less..... Experimentation is the name of the game here partner; go out to the track & find out! Fuel pressure should be initially set at 38-40 PSI with the vacuum plugged off, make a run, drop it 2 PSI, run again & compare. Dit it run faster? Did it ping, rattle the valvetrain, or detonate? Then go back to the origional PSI..... Keep a log book of tire pressures, fuel pressures, atmospheric conditions, etc...... Short belt it to bypass the smog pump & powersteering(like here: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2000/02/quicktips/index.shtml ).
Remove the air silencer(if so equipt), K&N air filter, remove the front swaybar, etc.... Lot's of things to make you run faster....;)
