Dark Charcoal 85-86 hood decal w/ NO GT - Which cars had 'em

A friend was clearing out all his 85-86 parts, so I picked up a few things for the archives. I came across an NOS 85-86 hood decal, and thought it was the standard charcoal.

Looking closer, it's a very dark charcoal (looks black if you don't catch it in the right light). It says 'NON GT' after the ford part #.

Not sure if any of this holds any water.

LX decal perhaps?

My black 86 GT has the regular color decal, but no cutouts. It has the silver GT decal on top of the hood where the cutout would normally be. I understand this was done for black cars only.

I don't have the box, but do have the E5 part # that's printed on the decal if it helps.

I have never seen an LX with a factory hood decal...I know someone made one about a decade ago and that there was a stencil made

I figured if anyone knew, it would be the folks with the LX's.

This is definately an NOS ford sticker. It's identical to the GT decal we are used to seeing, except it says 'NON-GT' and the noticable color difference.

I will have to unroll it to get the E5 part #. I am hoping to get a nice macro shot of the color. I peeled back a 1/4 inch just to see the color. I could tell right away it wasn't the regular charcoal color.

it is an odity if it is a Ford part, but I do remember seeing a non-GT aftermarket decal sold by California Mustang around 1997

I used the charcoal black from them and it was too dark in my opinion. It looked black against the cowl vent which was the correct color for 86. Maybe the special grey? I think that looked silver though.
