I want to swap the computer in a 84 gt TURBO. I want to run the 35lb injectors and larger VAM. What computer is easiest and best to swap in. I think the 87 88 turbocoupe is the best, but that involves repinning. How do you do that?

repinning? on the face of the ecu connector there is a red piece. pry that out and then pull out the required pins and stick them in their new homes.

I swapped a LA3 into my SVO after doing something stupid with the stock PE computer. It took me maybe 10 minutes to do the re-pin, most of which was spent sorting through the tangle of wires to make sure I was pulling the right ones out.

You can get a full run-down on the swap HERE (http://www.ptaaron.com/la3/index.html)
That shows the install in an XR4, but it covers it pretty well, and that coupled with the wiring layout from GT350R's site you can pull it of pretty easily.

Thank you guys. You people with the turbo 2.3's, that have done this swap is it really worth it? Better driveability??? performance??? mpg??? Whats up?

Driveability improves mostly. Most of the power gains with the stock ECUs are with the boost increases. The timing/fuel changes are a bit more aggressive, but nothing ground-shaking. The early ones are pretty raw and the 87-88's with their faster processor and other driveability add-ons improve the idle and other manners some what.
You're not going to bolt on a gazillion extra HP or get 10 more mpg or anything out of it.

I'd say they are way better drivable then the stock 2.3 pluss the gas milage dosn't suffer onless you'rer in the boost all the time and YES its well worth it

Better idle quality, a little smoother running.
As far as performance is concerned with the LA3 and the 35's you can crank the boost up a little and have fun.
As an example we picked up 5 mph and roughly 7/10's with the combination of a 3 inch exhaust, LA3, 35's, and 3 more lb's of boost on a 85 SVO.
My next mod's once the new motor is together will be ported intake's, some sort of header or log manifold and a good dyno tune.
At 17psi my car put 220 rwhp and 260rwtq to the wheel's wich is roughly 270 fwhp and 300fwtq. That's enough to chase down lightly modded 5.0 car's, stomp on modded 96-98 car's and beat lightly modded 99+ car's.
It's alot of fun and I love the look on people's face's when the realize they just got beat by a 4cyl mustang.

Ok, looks like I get to be the weirdo.
First off, you never mentioned an intercooler. You pretty much require one to step into any of the computers that run 35's and a big VAM.
Now consider this...................
Take a cue from the 5.0 mass air guys. Not common to do, but you can keep your computer and just add the bigger VAM and the 35's. Both bigger run pretty well together although it will be just a tad rich.
I ran my Gt350 like that for over a year until I found a good enough deal on a PE computer.

Oh yeah,,,,,," is it worth it"?
Its a supporting mod. SO by itself , its no big deal. But its par for the course if you want to do other bigger mods.
SO keep it simple, just swap in the injectors and air meter. Then get an intercooler on it so you can bump the boost up. Then a 3 inch down pipe.
THEN worry about the performance of the computer.

Thanks for the plug Bart :)

Instead of fixxing the Stangnet pop up machine , I have been working on moving it to Ben's (Juscuz) server. Hopefully I will get a chance to scan in all my new books too. Looking to make it all 83-86 diagrams. Not just 2.3.

Well, a little rich is better than a little lean....as long as its not choking me out with fumes at idle. I got a Volvo intercooler really cheap, so I just will install it. I know it isnt the greatest, but I figured its better than nothing, until I can get a better unit.
He said unit.......
