First of all I got it dynoed today. 270hp, 306tq. I was hoping for 275 or 280hp, so I was a little bummed, but the torque curve is super smooth and the car sounded great. A friend of mine said my heads (AFR 165s) like a lot more timing and that the 14-degrees I was running could be advanced quite a bit more.
Also while I was at my friend's shop (http://www.dprsocal.com), one of his employees let me try the 05 GT wheels on my car. Since I'm running 96+ Mustang brakes/spindles in front and Mark VII brakes on the rear, the 99 Cobra wheels I'm running come awfully close to the fender lips and quarter panels and occasionally rub. I wanted to see if the increase offset of 05+ Mustang wheels would give me more clearance and fit well, and they did. Clearance is great both on the in and outside of the wheel.

I'm not a big fan of the looks of the wheels themselves, and the 99 Cobra wheels I'm running stick out a bit further which give the car a bit more aggressive stance, but the fitment of the 05+ wheels is great. So if I ever wanted to track race my car, these wheels would be the ticket.
I'd like to see how the other 05+ wheels (the polished ones) would look on my car since they're more "square."

Did'nt know there was a difference in those "Bullitt" wheels on the '05. But good to know. Thanks, Scott. As always, you prove to be, yet once again, the guru of the "ALTERNA-FOX". Chuck

Those power numbers are respectable. I would suggest getting a tuning device of some sort (ie tweecer). You can make more power without having to take the initial timing so high and risk ruining part and light throttle driveability.
How close to the struts were those 05 wheels?

The 94-04 17x8 Mustang wheels are +30 offset vs. +45 for the 05+ wheels. So they sit inwards 1.5cm more. If you look at the 05+ Bullits vs the older ones, the spoke design is a bit different and there isn't as much polished lip on the 05 wheels due to the increased offset.
Mont, there was a good 1.5" clearance to the strut from what I could see laying on the ground under the car (keep in mind the stock 235/55/17 tires were on teh wheels). They didn't appear to be too close to any of the suspension components.
My car does need a tune. A/F ratio was about 13.7, which is a little lean. My friend's shop will do a full dyno tune with chip for $500 out the door. The TwEECer starts at like $400. Since I don't intend on replacing any of my main engine components for a fair while, I think a dyno tune would be a better choice for me.
But for now, I actually want to buy some decent seats first!

A guy on another board photoshopped the other style 05 GT wheels on my car. I think they'd look good in real life.

Not bad, but I have to agree, the other '05 rim would look out of place with our older iron.
Now if we can just get some 17" rims that look like the ol' steel rims and use dog dish hub caps...

The 06 Crown Vic police cars apparently now run 17" steelies. But they're probably only 7.5" wide and weigh a ton.

Nice... but I was hoping your LX would be putting out more hp.
Still damned good though.

I was hoping for 280 and thinking realistically 275, so I'm not far off. Next time I'll crank up the fuel pressure a bit and turn up the timing. I was only running 14 degrees.

Scott,
I can see you live in San Diego, CA. Where exactly is the pic taken with the sailboat in the background? Do you have any other pics or a personal webpage for your LTD?

The pics were taken on Harbor Island, not far from the airport (and also not far from where I live).

Here's downtown San Diego and the Coronado bridge in the background.
I have a webpage but it's ridiculously out of date, so I have a CarDomain page at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/324557 and a collection of photos at http://www.ltdlx.org/gallery/SVT-LTD

Scott:
What axels are u running in the back??? Id thought about using those weels but everybody says that they wont work on the foxes due to the backspacing, I can guess they worked very well on the front due to the wider 96 spindles.
And when are you coming to my neck of the woods????? :)

I'm running Lincoln Mark VII rear brakes which push the track width out way further. The 96+ spindles do the same on the front. So on my car, the 05+ wheels work well.
I might be out in Hell Centro next weekend, but not sure.

Thats good to know since those wheel come up dirtcheap on ebay. And ive seen at least 5 or 6 markvII so I can get the rear assembly pretty cheap, let me know if you will cross the border.
Thanks

Scott,
The first pic with the 05 Bullits, is that with the oem 235-55-17s?
Those tires are 27 inches tall, most everyone runs a 25 inch tall tire.
Im going to try both the 05 16 inch and the 05 17 inch wheels on my 84. They also have the oem 27 inch tall tires.

Yes, and I agree that they'd be too tall for my car. If I bought some I'd use 235/45 or 245/45 tires.

I just bought a set of brand new (1000 mile) '05 take-offs for $225 including locking lug nuts. They're the split spoke style. Gotta wait to pick up some tires to mount them on the car.
