Yes my car is all stock, except for rims, tires, and rebuilt motor. i put a bigger cam in it also. My car does have a/c and it is not a Cali. car that I know of. Right now I just want to keep it somewhat stock.

Good luck. I remember when I opened the hood on my turbo '79 Cobra that it looked like a bowl of spaghetti.
Is there a vacuum diagram sticker on the hood perhaps?

there is a diagram but half of the lines and pieces were missing. The missing pieces, (t connectors, etc.) are whats messing me up. I dont want to give up because the car is in good shape, very little rust, original paint, etc but its frustrating. My Dad was a mechanic all his life and we started working on this car but he passed away this last summer. So im trying to continue with what I can since funds are limited now. The motor in here was the last one he rebuilt so I want to keep it as original as I can.

Wow, that is terrible to hear about your father.
What I would suggest, is to go to ebay and see if you can't grab a 1979 Vacuum troubleshooting manual or perhaps a set of 1979 Ford Mustang/Capri Shop Manuals. They are EXTREMELY helpful and a super resource.
Pictures of your setup are really needed for good troubleshooting out here on the web. If you have a digital camera, take some shots and upload to your personal album here.

Knowing how to fix something is mostly a matter of knowing where to look for the information....I have given you 2 clues, and this will be the 3rd and last clue....if you don't pick it up, then I can't help you. Please refer back to my first post to you, and send me an E-MAIL so I can get you started on the right course....

put "vacuum lines" in the subject line so it comes through. Negusm knows that I know what you need....

Well Neil I sent an email out to your friend and will wait back for a response. Thanks for all the info everybody sent. Hopefully I can get this resolved soon. I tried to post some pics but the ones I have on my comp. are too large in info to put on so I will take some more soon. Just to let all know, my car has 95,000 miles. Original paint, very very little rust, (one spot quarter size in front fender thats thru the metal), original motor, rebuilt and interior that needs carpet, cleaning and one or two trim panels.
