Does anybody know of anyplace that i could get the tiny ford emblems that glue into the rocker panels? I think they are 1"x1/2" or something like that. Thanks in advance.

I think i remember seeing those at 50resto.com. They were kinda pricey, like 30 bucks for one.

PPI, Performance Parts Inc has them for like $20-30 I think plus $7-$8 shipping.

You gotta have them. They are quite noticeable when installed. Mine were all painted over....I replaced them and now they are the first things I notice when I open the door.

What's weird is that they are "Ford" and not "Mercury" for the Capri too. :?

Some cars did not come with them installed. they have the indentation in the rocker, but the emblem was never put in. If I remember correctly my 86 Capri did not have them. I'll have to look and see if my Mustang has them.

Did you own those cars from new? They often simply fall off after a time.

On my car, the driver's side had one and the pasenger's did not. I'm assuming the passenger side fell off as the old driver's side one was only being held on by a layer of paint...the glue on the back was crumbly as anything.

No, but on the Capri you could see they were never on there. I'll look at the Mustang today. I have seen various other models of Fords that used the same emblem but never had them installed, just the indent inthe rocker panel. I think Ford stopped using them at one point, but I can't be sure what year it was.

Open your door. Look down at the metal area just below the plastic sill plates/scuff strips. There will be a small indentation. In there may or may not be a small alluminum rectangular Ford emblem. If your car was painted, it was probably painted over. If you car hasn't been painted, it probably fell off.

Just as Mike stated....

I think the weather stripping can hide them a little bit too.

mine has the indentations for them but no sign they were ever there. are they just adhesive backed?

Yes, the same adhesive they used for the exterior emblems. I suppose they can fall off, but that's some strong stuff, so not likely in my opinion. It's possible they were not installed.

Not after 20 years it isn't. The one I took of my car, the adhesive was all crumbly and you could easily remove it with your finger nail. The ones I put back on, did have better adhesive it seemed. Maybe they used better adhesive later on?
