Hey,

I noticed that my vinyl headliner from my Ghia has these "buttons" on it. They appear to be pressed through the headliner to the baseboard. They are also spaced around the outer perimeter of the headliner. Any idea if these buttons are reusable?

I've replaced headliners before... that part doesn't bother me. But this is just one of those little details I've not dealt with before.

Thanks for any insight / experiences you have!

My guess is those buttons were added by the last headliner installer as "insurance". The factory headliner on my 79 was a complete glue-on onto the cardboard backing, no additional buttons or anything else. As with most cars of the era the headliners don't stay up forever. I've had mine replaced twice, once by a pro (who did a terrible job, and which stayed up about a year) and the second time by myself (so far so good after two years).

Yeah...that's my guess too. I don't know the early cars well but have never heard of these headliner buttons.

Okay, I guess I won't worry about it when I replace the headliner. 8)
Thanks!
