Car with 2.73s and a 5 speed - 13.84 @ 101.6

Same combination, weight will be a little more (due to the changes)
AOD with 4.10 gears.

Will the AOD have a better ET than the no-gear T5 combination?

T-5 has a 3.35:1 first gear. With the 2.73s, that gives a final drive of 9.14:1.

The AOD has a 2.40:1 first gear. With 4.10s, the car has 9.84:1.

The T-5 car would have to demolish the clutch to match the 60' times of the AOD with 4.10s and a 3000rpm convertor.

But toss gears in the man's car and the AOD will never be able to keep up.

also its awesome to see the pretty boys faces at the track with their sn95 saleen clones after they see tail lights a few times

Both scenarios are with my car.
One was Fall 2004.
2.2 60' due to the set-up and lack of gear.
Being replaced with a similar (if not identical) set-up, but moving to an AOD.

I am actually very impressed with the 13.84 time with the 2.73s. I noticed a HUGE and I mean HUGE difference when I switched the 3.08 gears in my T5 '92 GT to 3.73s.

I would say the AOD with the 4.10 combo should smoke a T5 with 2.73s. After I did the AOD to T5 conversion in my '90 GT vert I left the stock 2.73 gears in it and it seams like it burns an awful lot of clutch to get the thing rolling. I am going to try a set of 3.55s in the vert to see what it is like.

Launching on Slicks, the car would bog out of the hole.
My cam needed gears and it just never happened.
Not too mention, burning a new clutch while making the passes (17 passes in one day).

Dropped the clutch at 4,500 to a bog, while waiting for the cam to go and the 650DP to clear up...

2.2 60' was the best that I could muster out of it.

Sounds like the carb could use some tuning. But slipping the clutch out would most likely helped you there. It helps keep the RPM's up a little and doesn't load the motor as bad. This will help so the motor doesn't bog. As long as the clutch was up to the task. They get very hot doing that. It took me a while to refine it but it worked on my 83 Capri with 3.27 gears. My 60' went from 2.0's to low 1.6's like that.

It works the other way as well. I run radials on my 86 Capri and they do not hook with a aggressive launch with dumping the clutch. It shocks the tires too hard and they just spin. Slipping the clutch the 60' went from 2.+ to mid-low 1.7. Just takes some practice to see what works for your combo.

Slid the clutch (burned it up in one day) and tried dropping it.

However, the car had nothing under 2,500 RPM. 2,500 to almost 6,000 - pulled stronger than hell...

A lot of it was the cam and not the carb.
At idle, 11" of vacuum was the best that I could get...

I don't doubt it. My Ram clutch didn't last long either. lol My SPEC stage3 grips like crazy with 500+rwtq. But it doesn't like to be slipped. It is more of a on/off switch. Bad choice for a street tire car. I think I am upgrading to a twin disc set up.

I hear you there too. My cam is the same way. 232/242 @ .050 .544/.560 lift and 112 seperation. It is real lazy below 2500rpm but ripps above that.

I stage the car at about 3500 rpm and slip the cluch out for the first second or so of the run. (With the power the 86 has I also have to play with the throttle as well.) Lots going on there. lol Not as easy as slicks and launching at 5500rpm by just dropping the clutch. But I like the challange. Plus no one thinks the car will hook on street tires so I get mad spots at the street race days at the track. hahaha

I feel it is hard to out shift a automatic that is built. But a good stick and driver could keep up anyday with different advantages like changing launch rpm and such. The automatic is just more forgiving and consistent.

Who will win.

My daughter in her powerwheel's jeep. She drive's jsut like her mother. The throttle is a on/off switch and she hit's every darn thing that's in her way. :P

When it's time for powerwheel races let me know, cause I'm up for that!!!!
It's amazing how fast a 12volt powerwheels jeep is when giving it 36volts!!!
The kids jeep gets about the same traction as a 9 second mustang would on stock tires.

Sorry for going off subject Kevin.

Sorry for going off subject Kevin.tell me about it back when i was 14 a friend and i actually burned off a set of plastic tires, you could go and turn and let off then stomp on it again and get it to drift  We were using a 24v car battery.
