Unbelievable. I would carve one out of soap before I would pay over $200 for that.

Some people are idiots. But the worse thing is the person the idiot capitalizes off of. I hope no one buys this. We should send him a message say how stupid he is.

So how would you guys price these?

Remember they would (should) go on a SHOW car.

BTW, how much do used ones go for?

Pricing is difficult on this item. There are different things to consider.

We know they will never be reproduced. There are not enough Cobras left for there to be a profit. (Ok, now somebody will prove me wrong.)

On an all original Cobra like Gregg's 80 and my 79, we would never replace our emblems unless damaged or stolen. The cobras in my emblems aren't as shiny as they used to be.

As far as value, these cars are not worth much yet, so would you really want to spend that much on an emblem? On the other hand, if your Cobra is prestine, and you are trying to win a show, and the only thing standing in your way is that missing emblem, you may be willing to shell out the dough.

The used emblem market is pretty dried up. There were a couple on e-bay not too long ago. I think they went for around $60 for the pair? I went to the Columbus Swap Meet a couple weeks ago and There was nothing Cobra specific there.

If I was missing one emblem, I would try to go used. If I was missing all 3 embelms, I would pay as much as $300 for the set still in the bag.

Here is my problem with the auction. The emblem is the one that goes on above the Glovebox and it is put on via adhesive. What are the clips for? The ones that are in the door panels are smaller and have two prongs on the back of them and they just "push" in the door panel.

Here is another question. I have three of these. Two are NOS and the other is on the Cobra. One of these emblems have two lines one above the other that circle around the Cobra. The other is just one solid line that goes around the Cobra and that is like the one on my car. I have wondered why the first one which looks just like the other two in size and design except it has two lines instead of one.

Regardless of worth or value, starting the auction at the price you want for something almost never gets any bids. He'd have been better off listing them cheap, with no reserve, and hoping for the best.

Now the seller has it at a more practical $49.00

That should be worth $49 now but not much more.

That looks like the one that goes on the door panels and not the dash. The dash is much bigger I thought.

[ You are right GregPro5.0: the dash emblem is a stick-on (larger) than then the twin Door Emblems that have pins out the back.

It's no surprise that the guy hasn't gotten one single bid. That piece believe it or not, shouldn't go for more than $50.00. I know that sounds crazy, but look at it this way. Regular emblems go for between $5-$30 bucks (5.0 emblems/'79-'82 Mustang hood emblem). Notice how the bigger, more colorful one is near $30.00? That NOS one, because it's smaller and has no color, shouldn't cost more than the hood emblem. Right? That's my theory anyway.

However, the Cobra emblem isn't made anymore while the hood emblem is. Therefore, it will bring more money. I think $50.00 is more than reasonable for an emblem that's basically the size of a quarter. $199.00? It's not made out of gold. ;)

Ha! I didn't read the entire thread and after making my previous post, I scrolled down to read it. Lo and behold, I saw that he "realized the error of his ways" and relisted it for $49.00. That's very reasonable in my opinion and apparently in the buyer's opinion too. ;)

I sold a few recently between 9-20 for the small one and up to 80 for the big one.

No doubt they are getting rare!

Anybody seen the one for the steering wheel? Also I have one that came off the clip on the door. What would you suggest to reattach the emblem to the clip?

Hi, they did not have one for the steering wheel. Some people have put one there but it is not from the factory.

I will have to take another look but I am sure there is a black circle that looks like the one on the door where my other one came from. I have the 4 spoke wheel with the cruise buttons on the spokes. What is supposed to go there if it was not a cobra emblem? No trying to sound rude. We are the third owners and it was missing by the time we got it. Also the car is parked at my father's so I cannot just run outside and check. Thanks.

I know you are not trying to be rude. You just want to know whats right. I respect that and I am that way too. Take a look at the 1979 Mustang Brochure ( link below) of your wheel and you will see the correct bezel for your steering wheel.

One other note I have also seen the tilt wheel with the bezel that is in the Sport Wheel on picture "L" below

Thanks. Have never seen that emblem before. Any ideas where to find it? Are local salvage yards the cheapest if they have it?

The dash emblem seems to be a little more rare, since it was only held on with adhesive, unlike the door emblems.

Here is what I would do - Contact Green Sales 1-513-731-3304

and ask them if they have the steering wheel bezel. If they don't ask them for the part #. You can then do a part search at partsvoice.com
