What are the differences in oil pans from 1979-1986-1993?

The guy who had my car like to go off roading with it and the original oil pan is dented up pretty good.

I want to get another one same ast the stock one that would be on an 85 but don't know what the differences are to look for.

i think the low oil level sending unit is one of the only things, i believe 50resto sells the proper pan, and i am almost positive you can still get them from the dealer, they have a fox conversion pack for the crate motors that has the correct fox oilpan in it

I'll have to take a look.

I'd like to know what years got it. That would mean some pans would have the hole and some would not, right?

'79-'81 302/255 pans had the dipstick tube built into the pan since there was no accomodations in the block for it.

'82-'84 didnt have the low oil fitting

'85-'90 were the same

'90-'93 had different drain plugs

I am pretty sure this info is correct.

just to add, there is a definately a difference between an 86 and 92 pan. The 92 pan cannot be used with the 86 pickup, it hits the hump in the middle. When you compare the two, you can clearly see the contour differences in the hump area.

I believe the change occured sometime in 88 or 89 and a revised oil pickup went along with the newer style pan. The updated pickup is angled different to clear the revised pan.

I have some pictures showing the difference of the 86 pan/pickup vs. the 92 parts. I'll post if I can find them.

A little late but I think a grand marquis/ crown vic pan is the same. The motor in my capri came from one and I didnt change the pan.
