Hello guys, i found this 79 convertable for sale. I though to myself there were only 1980-82 converts made ?? I searched and came up with nothing relating to a 79 .. all info about 80 + convertables.. I dont know anything about the car aside from this pic. And this is located in quebec, canada. Anybody got info about this ?? I will try to get the VIN and other pics. Here's the pic. http://www.montrealmustang.org/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=803

There were a few car companys doing conversions back then.
AHA was one. Intermechanica (sp?).
When Ford went with C&C later on, they all dropped their conversions.
I admit, 1979 is a pretty early car to have been converted though and I wonder which one it would be.

i dont think its a real vert,,looks to me like it has hardtop doors on it, full door frame around the window, probably got the fake vert roof on it. i could be mistaken but.....i dont think so.

thanks negusm, actually AHA is a ontario, canada based company, so it probably got it's way into quebec. Still waiting for the VIN, this will probably narrow it down to a true 79 or whatever year. Maybe owner always tought it was an 79 but actually 80 or more ??? Will post as soon i get the VIN.

It has quarter windows too, most of the conversions didn't, did they?

Looks more like a notch with Carriage Roof option than a convertible ...

Actually we are not certain exactly what car that is. They didn't make 1980 McLaren verts.

Yes, I know about the site.
It would be nice to see more pictures of the car and what it really is. If it is an ascMcLaren, its an 84 or later.
If its a 1980 then it is not a McLaren.
There are not enough pictures to know what it is for sure.

I am with you, this appears to be a fake vert roof. There even appears to be something sitting on the back seat deck which we know is an open area on a real vert.

Yes, now that I look at the picture, of course its not a vert. Its the same as that other car we saw that popped up for sale. It has a Landau top or Carriage top....and is not a vert.

Well I had a closer look at the dyno results, it says an '82 393 CI Mustang

Still not helping :D
If its an 80 or 82 its not an ascMcLaren. The car may quite possibly be an Intermechannica (sp?) or a Swift or something of that sort.
ascMcLarens came as Capris from 84-86 (no Mustangs) and that car does not appear to have rear bulges in the quarters....so it is not a Capri. From 87-90 ascMcLaren made their verts from the Mustang platform and that car is not an 87+ unless very very many changes have occured.
So my guess is it is not an ascMcLaren. They guy is misinformed as to what he has....which isn't a bad thing since the car is more rare being an 80 or 82 Mustang vert conversion.
