Do you want the Motorcraft Number or the actual Ford number?

I have some old Motorcraft books from the mid-80's and can reference it that way

Both or either one.

I need the one for a 1985 5.0 4v manual tranny car.

I have seen 3 kinds and want to know which is correct. I have seen 1 with 3 posts (on my car now), 4 posts (which I have 2 new in the box) and a different design 4 post one with the starter and pos bat cable coming out of the top of the solenoid instead of the sides.

I have seen both on various new FoMoCo's till about 92ish when the soleniod was moved directly to the starter.

I am in Miami at the final Nascar races right now so, I can get the number for you later next week when I get home.

Either one will work.

I have pics of 85 GT carbed engine bays...with both....but am unsure which one got replaced.

Mine had the top pic until I replaced it with the bottom one because I couldn't find one like the top picture in your post. That top pictured one was original from the factory on my car with a 12/11/84 build date.
