For those of you that don't know, I have a 79 Capri RS 302 that is 99 percent orginal, as I ordered and purchaced the car new. If you need to see something as it was produced from the factory, post your request here, and I will take a picture of your needs. If you have DSL, you can view 60 pics of my Capri at the link at the bottom. My desire is for the moderator to make this a sticky to keep it from getting lost in the future. Let me know if I can help with your research.

I can't sticky everyone's threads, but I will do this...
I'll sticky this one and change the title so that everyone with a pure stock car can post here. That way, we'll have a good idea of how many unmolested examples of what we have available for reference.
Thanks for volunteering, Neil.

I have a '79 Capri RS. It has the 2.3 turbo setup. I rebuilt the motor, rebuilt the 4 speed trans changed the interor from red to black, rewired the interior. I need to have body work done and have someone help me with the vacuum lines cause it's a mess. It runs but needs some more work to get it road worthy.

My car is almost completely original. I just changed out the original spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, but I did keep all of them. I have the original TRX rims with the original tires, but am currently running some Enkei's that I just purchased. Other than that, the only other things not original are the battery, oil filter, air filter, serpentine belt.......oh yeah, and the oil....
I forgot that the stereo has been taken out and replaced, but I have the one that came out with all knobs and whatnot.

I have an 82 Capri RS; 5.0 HO, 4 spd., Tbar, tilt/cruise, AM/FM cassette, console delete, black/black, 10 holers. Original paint (except for pass. fender)...purchased from O/O this summer. Completely original including some rust...(!) This vehicle has never been touched/modified! I'm sure the carb has never been rebuilt...I will be cleaning the vehicle up for pictures (especially underhood) this coming week. All hoses (with the exception of the heater lines) and emmissions eqpt. appear to be original, but weathered; with factory installed fasteners, markings, decals, etc. still in presentable shape. I'll try to be as thorough as possible, but any specific requests for pictures of certain items please PM me on the board. Please note this a Canadian-delivered (U.S. built) vehicle, so some detail/decal items may differ from U.S. delivered cars.

We bought ours brand new off the lot in 81 the only changes are stereo system (originally instaled by the dealer at my request, but since replaced with another aftermarket unit), new carb & breather, valve covers (have original covers but they have rust holes) .The paint is all original except for the hood that was repaired after my wife clipped a dear late at night. Yes it still has the much maligned "boat anchor " 255 that so many like to criticize. Pix are in the four eyed pride album under 79-82 capri's page 6

I currently don't have any pics to load although I'll try to get some next weekend. I do have some old ones taken in 1985 that may be more helpful to others but I'll have to find a way to scan them. I'm more than happy to help others with whatever information that I can provide.

edited my post above to include a picture (more than 2 years later). The car has been repainted by Maaco once and the engine / transmission have each been replaced / rebuilt once. It is now time to do both again. The car originally came with 14" steel wheels with spoke hubcaps. They have been gone for many years.

Sup folks, I just found this site last week. I'm suprised cuz i've owned 3 4eyed fox bodies. I currently have an all original 83 capri RS 5.0 5 speed with T-tops. I found it in 04 on ebay. It has 66,000 original miles on it currently. Haven't found anything on it that seems aftermarket accept for i put a set of ponies on it. I still have the original metric wheels and tires but i got the ponies and nice rubber for 150 out the door and that was way cheaper then trying to get new rubber for the metrics. The car unfortunately has a corner broken off the front bumper cover and a broken plastic molding on one of the quarter panels. But it still has the original single exaust and all the RS stripes and logo's on it. when i bought it, it had some really gaudy metal louvers on the bubble hatch which i immediately took off but all the stupid brackets for it are seriously glued to the hatch. I payed 3200 for it. what do you guys think

BTW, I'm going to start removing the non-topic-specific banter in this thread, so if y'all get tempted to start talking about other stuff, I'd appreciate it if you'd start your own thread about it.
In fact, I think I'm gonna split off the louver stuff into a new thread if I can...

Good topic -
Here's what I got. I've been told in the last couple days from others on this site that there's not many of these around anymore. (I'm a newbie here)
'84 RS Turbo - all original except for some ignition parts (I'll be switching those back to Motorcraft when I do my restore). Tires, shocks (yes, they're original too), driver seat, and headliner are all shot. I have checked all the vendors for a new replacement headliner but no luck (red w/sunroof opening) so any tips/leads would be appreciated. Paint is REALLY bad on the horizontal surfaces. I was going to try to replace the rear hatch interior panels but after seeing all the tips about repainting, I think I'll try that instead, they're really not in that bad of shape (a little fading and some scratches).

I have an 84 GT I bought from the original owner awhile back. It is mostly stock except for the paint, maintenance items, and whatever broke over the years. You could eat off of the undercarriage (spent most of its life in a garage). It has 225K miles on the original drivetrain and still runs pretty strong. It has a 5 speed, A/C, AM/FM cassette, and a sunroof. The guy included the original documents for the car including the window sticker, warranty card, and almost every receipt for maintenance and repairs since it was new. My immediate plans are to re-paint it and swap in an 8.8. The paint job the original owner had done was cheap and it shows. There are issues with the body around the sunroof so I'm a little nervous to find out exactly what is going on there. Overall though it is in good shape and should be a good foundation to work from.

84 GT Turbo. Only non-stock things are 140 mph speedo, short-throw shifter, wiper stalk lever and radio. All original parts were retained by the original owner.....me! I even rolled the 140 mph speedo AHEAD when I installed it so I knew the mileage would be right!! Now, if I could just find time to get the engine back in it....

I have an 86 Convertible LX 3.8cfi / aod, unmolested.only things not original are the cd player and the western chrome rims with 205/70/R15's on her. It was a light regatta blue until someone in its life primered over the original color.primer is fading now. the interior is blue, seats are cloth. anyone know how many were made this way? i have only seen one other like it but it was a coupe. I have all maintenance records on it. I am the 5th owner but the car changed hands rapidly from the original owner to me there was prolly 2 years tops.bonus to it is that it was bought in tennessee but lived in southern cali and it was a non-smoker on top of it. clean car but has some heat cracks.looking to restore to former glory just need pointed down that road. it's not as easy as you lucky ones with the 5.0's. I just picked up an '85 GT 'vert w/ 60K. It's really in pretty good shape but a PO resto-modded it. Luckily I was able to get most of the original parts that came off of it, including springs, exhaust, shifter and carb. My plan is to slowly return it to factory or at least close. Where were the rear factory speakers mounted? What size were they? A pic would be great.
Thanks, Guido

I have an 81 all original except the Keystone blades and the radio and the shifter. My mother had it first and froma used car lot so those rims were already on it the original radio had broke so they found a cheap replacement, I think it had shifter problems too dont remember. Everything else is original even has the unrecalled seats but the headliner fell but the coaerdboard is still there. it had been through a flood an everything but little rust and it would actually run if I did some things to it. I have a 2R 85 GT sunroof car that is 99% original with 64K miles. There MIGHT be a few heater hoses that have been changed and the serpentine belt is aftermarket but i have a NOS one for it. The other thing i changed cause i thought it was wrong is i took the metal fan off and put a plastic fan on it but on my build sheet it has the same part number for the metal fan. It still has the date coded sparkplug wires, 225/60/15 Gatorbacks and full factory exhaust.

I have 2 - 1980 Capri w/2.3, and 1983 Mustang GT. The Capri looks very nice, but there are little rust spots under the paint all over it. No way to do anything about it short of stripping the whole car and having it dipped, since the rust is everywhere. It will probably be a long time before it becomes a problem.

I have an 83 GLX Convertible with 5.0L and 5-speed with only 13,341 original miles on the clock. It is all original including paint, interior and top. Only the wheels and tires are not original (the first owner verified that it was delivered with TRX wheels/tires). The vehicle was appraised last week and the appraiser speculated that even the exhaust was original!
While sorting through some junk in my garage I came across a set of license plates (in pristine condition) that I had last used on a vehicle in 1982. As they were still registered in my name, the MTO allowed me to use them on this vehicle. My GLX now has 1983-era Ontario tags as well!
It is equipped with air, premium sound, ps, pb and console. Let me know if you need info or pictures. I would be happy to help anyone out.

Very nice GLX, Dave. Welcome to FEP and thanks for taking the time to post some pics. As the person that started this thread, and the orginal owner of my 79 Capri, I felt that members that had cars like yours and mine could use them for reference for other members. And yes, my exhaust is also orginal. Take care of the GLX.

As another original owner, I had to chuckle at your original exhaust stories. Mine is just the opposite. My car was in semi-storage for 14 years, 1500 miles away from me, in my mother-in-law's garage. During this time it was driven once in a while, and usually just for a few minutes. It also served as a back-up car when a family member's vehicle was out of commission, which means it got used in less-than-optimum conditions (and this was Ohio). I would drive the car when we came for a summer visit. You can imagine this was about the worst conditions for exhaust systems. For a time I was replacing the exhaust every 3 or 4 years. I think I am on the fourth or fifth system.
my 82 is bone stock original apart from the t-5 that was added in back in 85 by the orginal owner..figured I should post in here now, doing a swap this weekend due to some issues, and a grat deal on a beefier motor..

I have an 84 SVO which I bought new and now has 24,000 miles. It is shown in the MCA unrestored class. Second one is an 85 McLaren Capri (cfi) convertible which has 115,000 miles on it. Some normal replacement parts like the exhaust and a repaint. I show that as well.

Stock 1986 Ford Mustang 3.8/auto/loaded red over black. 80K
I believe it to be totally original with exceptions of: tires, hoses, belt and spark plug wires/cap.

I have a Canadian model 1986 GT convertible which my insurance company calls a Cobra. It's 9L white and GQ white leather / regatta blue interior. THe Buck Tag Shows a code GTR instead of GT or GTC which i have seen on other cars.
Other than tires and maybe exhaust it is absolutely bone stock with 190,000 km on it - upper rad hose and plug wires appear stock.
i'd say it's 90% original paint and i'm guessing that the hood was painted as there is no GT hood decal. I have also been told that a convertible could come as a decal delete car so if anyone has the code for it i'd love to know. OE paint was also re-touched below the door trim.
the top has a hole and will be done this summer.
I regret feeling a need to subframe ( and tower brace ) the car because she's a squirmy little minx in the corners.

I know less about Mustangs and even less about the Canadian Mustangs. But I know in at least 86 they were considered Cobras in canada. So I would assume that the "GT" should NOT be shown on your car.

Folks,
I just bought one. Bone stock, 35K original miles. It is an Intermeccanica Convertible Conversion. Original paint, radio, carpet, lights, belts hoses, etc. Anything you want to know, I will try to provide. I just ordered the 999 from Ford. It will be here in 4 weeks. Looking to have it repainted as it has some parking lot dings and the former owner was a little league coach. Interior is absolutely Mint. Need to find a source to replace the weathered top.
It's a 200 6, auto with AC, tilt and cassette radio, deluxe interior, has the systems monitor that works. Buzzers that work. Even the original aluminum two sets of factory keys! The only thing changed are the wheels. The original TRX's were swapped to 86 10 hole aluminums. I would have done the same since TRX tires are now $379 each!

got two mostly original cars.
1986 LX 3.8 CFI/ AOD Convertable 5th owner with all reciepts minus window tag!!! Only mods...15" chrome molly's, cd player, and some jackass's decision to macco paint the car grey from a sky blue original color. the engine is soon to be replaced with a 3.8 SC from a 1990 supercoup. I will be retaining the engine for restoration purposes later in life.
1984 Capri 3.8/ 4 spd auto tranny. unknown history as I just bought it this weekend for $500. Title says salvage rebuilt. body is awesome, drove her home. smog system has been removed with heater core bypassed. this is an a/c delete car. it has a rs hood with appropriate paint but definately been repainted at some point. don't know much about capris just like foxes so i had to have her especially at her price tag.

Never saw this answered: early fox Verts did not have rear speakers until 1987 to my knowledge  Only speakers in 83-86 verts were 3.5" in the dash - yeah, that ROCKS
BTW - I have a 1982 GT with 13k miles that I bought from the original owner. I've known the owner since he bought it and can say with confidence its is 99% stock - only thing changed was the battery and spark plugs.
I also have a 1985 GT Vert with just over 40K original miles. The car is all stock except the exhaust and I added halo headrests to the leather seats (still have the originals).
If you need any detailed pics, info or part numbers for either let me know and I'll do what I can to help.

The 86's definately have rear speakers. They are located behind the carpet on the sides below the armrest. The 85's are probably similar, but earlier then that, I don't know about.

My signature pretty much says it all. Base 85 GT Conv, owned since 86. 5.0 4bbl (federal emissions car), 5 speed, all original with exception of 8.8 rear (7.5 handgrenaded in '94) and Kenny Brown subframe connectors. Originally came with am/fm stereo, no cassette. cruise, tilt, window cranks, cloth interior. Jalapeno red with black top, charcoal interior. Still have original top, exhaust and clutch with 123K on car although I plan on changing exhaust and top soon. Only components to fail (besides rear) was waterpump, battery, starter solenoid, radiator heater core (3X - luckily no AC), rebuilt carb 1x, and intake gasket 1X, oh yeah, the left side convertible top hydraulics. And I've always had trouble with the Marchal fog lights, mainly the metal on the bulbs warping and losing contact.

I have 4 84s. 2 are completely stock. One is a tan 5.0 GT that is original with 64k mi and the other is an anniversary turbo hatchback with 89k mi both sport their factory paint (other than the hood blackout on the vert done before delivery by the dealer). I rarely drive the tan convert but I drive the turbo hatch all the time. Just replaced the steering rack and shocks and struts (all stock pieces) so it drives like a new 84. I even have the stock radios in them both and the anniversary car I drive around with TRXs. I rarely put them in public parking lots. I have reams of paperwork on them both but the anniversary has the sticker, build sheet and a couple of pictures of the car on the show floor in TX. They're really fun cars.

I'm not sure about the GT Vert's, but both my '83 GLX Verts had speakers in the rear of the doors with an angled grill over them. They both had the "premium" sound system. Not sure if that rear door speakers were part of the "premium" sound or just a vert thing in '83. Hope that helps

My 84 GT 'vert has fact. speakers in the rear panels behind the carpet, as do both of my 86's. The 84 had premium sound (I assume, since the amp switch is still there) but no idea on the 86's. From junkyard observation I believe the door speakers were 83 only, but not 100% sure.
