I know that the Capri and Mustang are FOX chassis cars. What are the other models that are built on the same chassis?

Fairmont?
LTD (Midsize)?
Marquis (Midsize)?

Thanks,
Chris

Correct except there were no Fox Monarchs (they were the Mercury version of the old Maverick-based Granada).

Crap! I knew Monarch was Mercury, but I did that quick before heading out to lunch.

But yes, there was a Fox-based Monarch. I believe it was sold only in Mexico. (Much like the Marquis LTS was sold only in Canada.) I'm looking for info on it. I'll post back here when I find it.

Edit: Scott is right...no Fox Monarch. I was thinking of the Venezuelian verison of the LTD LX, which was the Granada Elite.

it could have been the cougar.... I'll have to look.

But the mercury version of a Fairmont was the Zephyr....we all know that. But the FOX Ganada was short lived.... I really don't know if there was a merc version of the Granada.

Yes....the non-XR-7 Cougars for 80-82 were on the F/Z platform and were the cousins to the Granada.

The '80-'82 Cougars are sisters to the '80-'82 Fox T-birds. I saw such a coug today - a 2 DR. A guy at work has an '82 Cougar wagon and it looks kleen (unlike my faded rusty Fairmont wagon)! I think blacked out 10 holes and Cougar hub caps would look neat. I think I need to bug him again...

Only the 80-82 XR-7's are the Tbird twins (same 108" w/b) the rest of the 80-82 Cougars are the sisters to the Granada on the shorter F/Z platform....

The granada clone is what I was talking about.

So chuck, where can I find info on the wheel base and length and such on t birds and fairmonts?

Are you saying that the wb on my mustang is diff then the one on my t bird?
What about my fairmont futura sport coupe?

The reason I wonder is for exhaust options.

Will the 86-up mail order exhaust systems work on a bird or the "Lamont" as my friends call er. lol

Fox Mustang/Capri - 100.4" w/b
Fairmont/Zephyr/LTD/Marquis/80-82 Granada and Cougar - 105.5"
83-88 Tbird/Cougar - 104"
80-82 Tbird and Cougar XR-7 - 108"

You will need to lengthen the tail pipes if you want to go to the bumper on any of the non-Mustangs, and will probably have to add a but to the "flowtubes" (the tubes before the mufflers).

I just put an exhaust on my 80 Z-7 a few weeks ago. I used a Mustang tail pipe, but had to add to it on both ends.....
