Had fun. It was hot & only two regulars showed up besides myself from what i could tell.... Coupster & 5 liter Mustang were both there. If memory serves: Coupster went mid 13's with stock heads & 5 liter Mustang manages 15.20's with speed density & only gear.
I must mention that it was Hot as blazes! The DA was at 6,000 by 10am! Minimum 1\2 second or more loss in e.t.'s... easy! I ran a slew of 13.1's & a single 13.0@106.1mph.... Coupster I believe caught my car on video & say's my clutch is toast ... That would explain my terrible 60ft times; 1.84-1.9 something when normally I run 1.69-1.74's....
P.S. Nice to finally meet you Coupster & a verrrrrrry clean car you have! ;)

Does that track go downhill?

Does that track go downhill?
Most tracks do go down hill to the 1\8th mile mark & then rise for the last 1\8th mile. I've found this to be pretty consistant out here in California...

it was nice seeing you there! Your car is comming along very nicely; time to build the motor bud:hint:hint: ;)
It stinks when you don't know anybody at an event & fortunately..... I knew just about everybody there! I didn't have enough time to race & say hi to everyone.

That explains the quicker times (Fast Only Racing Downhill)
(joking)
Out here, they are dead even...

I think it all equals out in the end really... You might get a faster 1\8th mile e.t. but then going uphill the last 1\8th slows down the top end mph & e.t.
Fontana's track seems to be pretty level & I'm sure the new track being built in Banning will be pretty flat too.... I'm positive it has nothing to do with these two tracks being NHRA cert'ed tracks...;)

accually palmdale is flat then goes up hill. this was too slow the cars down since the breakign area wasn't as long. It is an old track and was NHRA sanctioned at one time. It still is an NHRA sanctioned track just doesn't run any huge televised events there anymore. I need to bwe making some of these evetns. I havn't been in a while. It is starting to really get sad. I think Ima buy a car trailer to haul my car to teh track with :)

Our track is 6k feet everyday of the year without counting the DA. lol.
One of the track official's at the last event calculated the DA and came up with 9300.... ouch.
Car look's good going down the track.

And to think, NRP was at a calculated 2,600 ft the other day and racers were complaining...

lol.
The guy's around here will drive 5-6 hundred mile's to race at sea level track's.
I'm pretty sure the track north of us up in wyoming is more than 6k feet.
Pueblo motorsport is roughly 150 mile's south of us and is right at 4500 or so.
Juleseburg is roughly 190 mile's east of us on the Colorado/Nebraska border and is right around 3500.
If we want anything closer to sea level we are heading into either Arizona or into Topeka Kansas.
But it is pretty funny watching viper's and Z06's run low 14's up here and then listening to the owner's complain about it because all of the magazine's tested them and they ran 12's at sea level.

Heh, heh.... That would be priceless.
Me:"Wow.... low 14's huh? <snicker>" Them:"So whadda you have?" Me: "12 second daily driver n/a & don't know yet what it'll run with the N2O....." Me walking away:"Shoulda bought a Fox-body.....<snicker>"

video is still buffering, takes a while. Just saw it, very cool. Def some smoke there on launch
congrats on the run, nick, 15.20s on that track isn't easy to do. I got 15.3's, but that was with gears, control arms, and borrowed drag radials from tony.
can't wait to start racing again, it's been a while

thanks jeremy. I'm definitely hooked on drag racing...i should have a complete (stock) e7 longblock in my car within a week or two, and next time I go to the track I will hopefully have slicks.

nice, we should be going about the same time. I'm so damn motivated to finish my car, I can't wait. It's only a matter of a couple weeks b4 my wife is fully recovered from her surgery, then it's every weekend I need to get my car going. I've got enough brownie points saved up for a lifetime now.

btw, nick, I just remembered, my times at palmdale were 15.8's (adjusted to 15.3's) while the engine was tired as all hell, that was still with drag radials, 3.73 gears, and good upper/lower control arms, not counting stupid things like timing advance, alum driveshaft, k&n, flows, etc. 15.2's are DAMN good, that's about mid 14's in an e6 headed notch.

thanks! my times would have been better too, but i missed shifts on my last 2 runs. I had a 2.2xx 60ft on that 15.2 run, then after that I was getting 2.1xx 60fts but i missed 4th on one run and 3rd on another run.
The motor is all stock , 200k+ miles with fresh spark plugs. It still has the old paper air filter. stock headers, off-road h-pipe, super turbo's welded in, eaton posi and 3.73's. I just can't wait until next time i'm at the track, my times will improve a lot with the fresher motor, e7 intake and heads, headers, disconnected sway bar, pullies, and maybe slicks.

Gee nick you are catching up to my e7 headed combo. I was 60'ing about 2.2 with no traction on my ill weight transfer set up I had. I have a best of 14.9 so far. Your not too far off that with less HP. You are doing good.
If you are going to put slicks on your car make sure you atleast weld up your torque boxes so they do not rip out. It is a must.
