only "computer" in '80 would be your duraspark box.
not really a computer just spark control.
should be on drivers inner fender. just follow the
dist. leads.

does that mean i don't have to have a engine warning light? i took that little wanrning light screen off of the center console to put misc. gauges.

center console only had exterior light/washer/and low fuel
warnings no engine warn. the engine warn light would be
in the bank of lights left of the tachometer(e-brake/belt/etc)
it is only a oil pressure warning on the early cars.

What was the first year for EECs?
1980 was the first year for fuel injected electronic engine control
(true electronic engine control)
Before that the were some electronic spark and carb feedback controls

yeah, my ' 80 had 2 sensors on the oil
pressure shafty thing-a-ma-bob on the
side of the block(highly technical) the
large oil pressure gauge sensor and at
the end it was tapped for a small 2 wire
sensor that kicked on the engine warn.
light if pressure got too low.
