How High is the cowl bump?

I think all the four eyes are the same but I'm just wondering how high the cowl is stock 1"? I'm thinking of getting a 2.5" cowl hood, does anyone have pictures of what one looks like on a car?

You can get anywhere from 1, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5" cowl hoods. I believe the 79 - 82 cowl hoods where 1.5" (1 or 1.5) and you cannot buy anything that looks like them today, you can get cowls that fit that year but dont have the same lower sections on the left and right of the hoods. Also as someone should have pointed out earlier, NOT all the foureyeds are the same, the 79 - 82 have the same hoods and the 83 - 86 have similar hoods.

Personally if you are not going to use the space given by having such a big cowl I would not recommend it. It maybe of an interest for you now but I find most people who have them that big (even here on the board) get sick of them and switch too something else. If you have the engine that needs the room for the cowl then go as big as you need it, if not a suttle 2.5 is more then enough.

The second cowl is more pronounced in the front, as opposed to the first.

(Zap is car 2, increase starts closer to the grill)

The 79 pacecar cowl is reproduced now. I just saw it in a magazine a few days ago but I cant remember what one. Either summit or JC Whitney or something. I think the cowl is 2", at least thats how big mine was when I measured it with an engineering scale.
