View Full Version : Power window Motor Brush kit
Anybody know where I can get a Brush kit for a Power window motor? I removed the power window motor from the LTD LX late today and took it apart to find the Brushes were worn down... alot.
I know, Some of you will ask me why don't I just go down to the salvage yard and get another. Well, where's the fun in that!? Hell, if I can rebuild a generator... I can rebuild this simple motor.
I'll try the typical local mom and pops parts stores... I hope I get lucky. But, any info can help.

I'd say it'd be a hit or miss propisition. Maybe you'll find something comparable that you can make work. No money in stocking motor brushes. Companies dont count on people like us tearing into parts to this level to repair them, so they dont offer individual service parts like this. Only entire subassemblies are usually stocked let alone offered.

Here ya go...

I used a set from Autozone for a generator that they had around, then took some sandpaper and cut them down to the size I needed. Cost was about $4. The one close to me had a large plastic box with an assortment in it.
I have not tried the above parts, but it looks correct.

Now THAT was cool! Thanks man... I should have checked with 50Resto first!
I bought two of the brushing kits cause I'll need to rebuild the rear window motor as well. And I also bought the 3 piece gear bushing set as well just to be safe.
I'm going to have fun when they come in!
:D
Thanks

Please note, that with some of 50Resto parts (like these) they can be had at autozone for as much as 50% cheaper.
50Resto stocks the stuff for convenience but a little hunting at your autoparts store and you may get lucky and find the same thing.
I was in advance auto and they had a box of the door panel clips...exact same stuff for like $5 or something. While 50Resto wants $8 plus shipping. Strikers...advance had more correct ones for $7...50resto wants...$13

Indeed... I realize that. But... as said (well... you said :) for convenience)... I really don't feel like searching and dealing with people that most-likely wont know what I'm talking about.
The stikers... yeah... I buy them from the help section... when they have them.
Thanks

I hear you loud and clear. If I have something I need from 50resto, I will tack on a few items that I know I might be able to get cheaper elsewhere but don't want to hassle with hunting for them either.
