i have a 4 banger t5 will it work with a v8 ?

Yes
Either change the input shaft or use a pilot bearing that will fit the engine and the tranny.

how long would it last i just need a tranny so i can drive the car the aod is ok just not want i want.

Depends on how you drive. The 4 cylinder T5 is just as weak as a V8.
