I just installed 2 new AM pro comp gauges. Mech H20 temp and mech Oil PSI. I ran the car at idle for 15 minutes. Temp was around 180-190. Remember this is south florida. In the shade it was upper 80s and high humidity! The oil psi was between 40 -50psi the whole idle time.
Id then reved the engine to alittle over 4K. oil psi went down slightly, then back to 40-50. I ran the engine for about 1-2 minutes at 3K. Temp wen up tp 190. Oil psi stayed rear 50 psi.
Tomarrow Im going to get gas and run the stang a bit. Get some more numbers with the car actually moving. Any insight would be nice.
Also the cars has not ran much in the last month. between vacation and no AC, its been sitting for about a month with only 1 short run.
Thanks

:tu:
Oil Pressure should be 40-60 hot PSI @ 2K RPM
Sounds like your right there
H2Os a little low for stock stat
That would be opening @ 193*-200*
But personally I like the 180*-190*
Did you put a 180* stat in there?

yeah oil was right between 40-50. And all the revin I did only took it up to 53 or so.
The temp was sitting still. So Ill get better numbers while on the move. I believe the Tstat is a 180. Its been a couple years since there has been any cooling system work. So i cant tell you for certain. But thats what i suspect. I have a new t stat to put in, but these 5.0s are alittle PITA to do. So I ve been puttin it off. I got new hoses to put on and Ill change the fluids then and probably the t stat too. I have high RPM lower hose collapse. My temps go up at HW speeds and cool off in town. :? Its gotta be hose collapse. Both upper and lower hoses are very squishy when the engine warms up. Plus I got the new hoses that are accordian style (have humps the whole way down the hose with the wire stiffener inside) as compared to the hose I can squeeze flat by hand that on now.
Ill get back tomarrow hopefully. thx

Those numbers sound fine. Dont worry yourself to death about it.
This is why the factory only puts C___H, and L___H gauges in cars. When people start worrying about exact numbers they get paranoid.

yeah I hear ya Zap. I know each stang runs alittle different due to specific conditions. So Im not super freakin (lol, sounds like a old song) about the numbers. Just wanted a general idea. Im sure Ill find trends over time with these gauges to this specific stang.
Thanks

ps, Its runnin like hell now! I dont know whats wrong. See my new thread for details.. THX
