hey all just recently aquired this 79 coupe 5.0, c4 tranny with 75,000 miles on it

i got it from a friend of the family for a whopping 250 bucks, just rebuilt the dash and console, put a set of 10 holes on it and am in the process of wrapping them, put a new feul pump, plugs, battery, shocks, struts and steering rack in it and its going for paint soon (black) and getting new full exhaust on it, header back.

i have a few questions,

1. what steering wheel should i use? a 87-93?

2. what is a good, cheap setup for header back for dual exhaust

3. i am looking for the forward facing hood scoop for it

4. what do you suggest to polish my 10 holes?

and of course, pics :)

Nice car! It'll look nice in black. That rear white seat looks awesome! Recover the fronts to match and that'll get you a lot of compliments. ;)

As for the steering wheel, anything past 1982 will not work due to the fact that your car has a "splined" steering shaft and the '83-up cars have a "D" shaped steering shaft. You'll have to remove and replace the entire steering column to change the steering wheel. Or, you can go with an aftermarket steering wheel from Grant, Momo, or other companies. Be aware that Grant does not make a cruise control kit for the '79-'82's and it drives me crazy because I switched wheels and need a kit.

As for the hood scoop, the forward facing ones came on the '79-'82's. They usually sell for $50.00-$75.00 at automotive flea markets and "Parts for Sale" sections of the websites, newspapers, Want Ad's, etc...etc...etc...

Good luck!

yeah the front seats just have seat covers on em, they are actually in MINT condition i just have to clean them up with some simple green or the likes

AH are you serious about the wheel that sucks, i guess ill have to find a direct replacement or go with a performance, and i also need to pm a member on here about a hood scoop

and yes i just washed it, looks almost like a nice car :P

Other than the seat color, that car is exactly like the one my brother had when I was a kid, same color with a 5.0 C-4 combo.
The car that started my love for four eyes :D

I've got three different forward facing hood scoops for sale in that price range, and can be pm'd about it (no futher discussion here, perhaps I've said too much all ready)

I love your notch, and it's got a TON of potential. I love the white seats too, looks great!!

IMO, lose the wood grained dash parts in favor of all black pieces, or the 85/86 grey/black pieces.
