83 Tbird 2.3T swap..... (was 5.0/AOD car ...HA!)
The first two are when I picked it up from paint and the last is one when I got most of the front end back together....
Got to get the cage in it after the wedding and get it painted (body color) so I can put the interior back together.

Thanks guys. Not too many more pics at the moment really. I got stalled out by screwing up my knee and having to have surgery after I got back from vacation.
Going to start to get the cage in the car after the wedding next weekend and then get it painted.
I actually need to get it back under it's own power so I can at least drive it out to the painter instead of having to load it again (tore up the first bumper cover when I picked it up).
Then once it's back from that I can get the interior back in, the Recaros recovered and work on getting the MegaSquirt ECU installed and ditch the EEC4 crap.
Gumby-
Yeah, it's kind of tight in the garage and it's hard to pic up on the scoops.

Hey Matt-
It's possible, as I'm over there alot.
BTW, I'm still considering your Z-7....just trying to get the Ranger sold first.

What 5 lug set up did you go with?

The front is Cobra stuff as I wanted the big brakes as well. The rear is currently TC stuff w/ redrilled rotors, but will eventually be Cobra stuff or some variation of some Vette stuff.
BTW (any more pics of your 'Mont?)

Whoa, is that a factory tach I spy on the Squarecat? And that center console is identical to the LTD LX one. I'll have to take a closer look at them next time I'm at the junkyard.

Hehe...no that's an 83-84TC cluster in that 80. It all works, but I'd rather it be silver like the original. I might do up some custom faces...

Oh ok. I was surprised it came with a factory tach. Too bad the speedo only goes to 85!
I've noticed that the 83-84 dashboards are similar to the 80-82 Tbird and 83-86 LTDs, but not quite the same. I wonder if anything apart from the cluster is interchangeable?

I was looking into possibly having one recalibrated and making new gauge faces....just one of the severla things on the list.
NOt sure about other interchangeability between the two.....doesn't look like much though..

Hey Chuck, whats the plans for that 84-86 red xr-7 under the tarp? Since i've owned and 83 and 88 xr-7 in the past with 5.0's, ive always wanted an 84-86 xr-7. You gotta love 2.3 turbos in a cougar, especially if you can find one with a t-5.

Well, mine didn't have a T-5 to begin with...but it did when I took it off the road ;)
My plans for it are a bit out there. It's not going to stay 2.3T for starters. It's not getting a 5.0 or any of that nonsense though.....it's getting even bigger nonsense. I'm going to mod an V-6 SHO motor and adapt it to a 5.0 T-5 and put that in there. Why? Because.
I'm not "butchering" up a "good" car though. It was a daily driver for a few years...and Indiana winters were not nice to it...so it needs some restoration work. I'm just waiting for the space to tear it apart. No weird body kits or other goofiness either, just minor accentuation of the original lines with perhaps a mild flare on the fenders.
While the 83 TBird is going to be more of my driver/road course car (as long as funds allow), this is going to be more of a "show" type car, kept nice pretty and clean.

Sounds like an awesome project. I think those early taurus svo motors were rated like 220 horse. Are there many aftermarket performance parts for those engines? If you could get that thing up to around 300 horse that would be awesome. Btw, i went cruising through indy on my way home with my 82 capri from ohio a couple weeks back. Looks like a nice area to live in. Good luck with your projects. Keep up with some pics once in awhile. Your t-bird looks great.
