View Full Version : Confessions of a 4 eye owner...
I thought I saw a red aero comming down the road, I keep my eyes open for nice cars, so i thought Id stare at it a bit as it went buy just to check it out...... TEMPO! Later I stared at our car for a while I flashed back to when we first got the car I wanted to swap the front to an aero nose. The wife flat out forbade me to do that. I'm glad she did, the four eye grew on me. After I was fooeld by the tempo it occured to me how fugly that front end realy is and what a cobjob it was on fords part.

I hate it when i'm at the junkyards and I see an aero nose poking out in the distance, but it turns out to be a Tempo

I own both also but never noticed the Tempo looking like the aero but I'm sure I will now lol.
But my confession that might hurt saying is I have mistaken the Daytona for a four eye a few times that is until I get closer to the car
just seems like lazyness to me, coorperate front ends? must have been trying to save money on toolings and such.

It a common practice for the makers to use the same style fronts and other styling cues on their different models
The aero-nose got it's cues from the SVO, then Tempos and Escorts got the aero-nose
All Pontiacs still use the split grill
Look how the Ram nose is now on the Magnum
The other Dodge sedans have the same nose, between themselves
Altima Maxima
It's real common

verry true. I only saw it in passing and at speed but it looked verry close if not exact. I'd have to get a good look. Its the first one Ive seen in a long while, perhaps I'll see 1000 of them now I'm accualy paying attention.

Aah yes, the case of mistakin auto identities. How about an early 90's Camaro turning out to be a Geo Storm?

A friend of mine has 96 Firebird WS6 and the rear end looks identical to Ponitac Sunfires except for the difference in width.

I mistake '90s T-birds to be 87-93 Mustangs myself, never a Tempo though.

In the late '80s I accidentally insulted an elderly gentleman by calling his new Corvette a Firebird. I just had a glance of the nose... Oops!
One more good thing about the '79-'84 Mustangs, they have their own look.

You all mistake this:

for this?

Other than the square headlights, there's very little resemblance. As for using the same tooling... Maybe the blue oval emblem is the same.
