I still cant believe it!

I just bought an honest to goodness 2000 mile 1989 Coupe!!!! A total stripped 5speed Coupe!

Dont even know where to start with this one. Guy was a Ford employee. Bought the car new. Put 500 break in miles on it. Threw everything at it from the 89 Motorsport catalog. Eveything that was removed was kept perfect in boxes. Took it racing till 93. Bought a 93 Cobra and just forgot about this one in the garage. The car has not even been outside since 96!!!

Nothing crazy, nothing chopped up, nothing welded up. So if I want to flip it back to 100% stock down to the gatorbacks I can.

Then again, there is something to be said for an era correct nostalgic drag car from the days of 5.0 racing that started it all.

The car is PERFECT. Said it was only rained on one time in its life.

As for the price? Dont ask :?

Wow. There was a local dealer here who had a 92 coupe, 5.0 5spd, with zero options. No radio, No A/C, nothing. The car had 1300 miles on it. Silver with gray tweed interior, and they were asking $14900. That was about 4 years ago. You could eat off it. Sounds like you scored the same deal. Very nice.

Need pics! Sounds like an awesome score. And incidentally, when are you gonna get us some updated pics of the turbo GT?

oh man, got me droolin here. I LOVE those low milers like that. The fact that it's like a throwback to the bolt on cars of the time is even better. Where abouts did you locate such a beast? I've gotta see that thing sometime if i'm up that way. Oh and PICS!!!!

YOU SHOULD BE BANNED FOR POSTING THIS CRAP. GET YOUR ASS OUT FROM IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER AND SUPPLY US SOME PICTURES!

People like you should be shot. Making us use our imaginations and having them run wild. Somebody could get hurt.

I have a mind to stick you with that swiss army knife you bid on against me. ;)

Guys, she would have been home already,..........but it was raining. Obvious there.

Hoping the weather is perfect tommarrow.

Pics will be half assed because I am not even bringing it home right away. I need to reorganize , and figure out where long term storage is going to be.

I have no idea what to do with it other then stick it somewhere and forget about it. I cant drive it , and I am afraid to have it out. SO forgeting I own it is the best choice. :)

As far as where I found it? It was a mile away from a buddies house. He not only never knew it was there, but had no idea the guy had a 93 Cobra too! Being a Cobra owner he was amazed to have never seen either. He is going to try to see if the guy will sell the Cobra tommarrow.

Makes me wonder if there are any 89 Coupes with lower mileage?

Half assed, whole assed, quarter assed nobody here cares.

Coupes are starting to grow on me. They have a nice simple understated style. I do like the aeronose coupes alot too.

What color is it?

The car is black with red interior. Low back LX style interior. I would to have had grey, but at this point, would anyone even care?

You think you guys are dying for pics? I am DYING to have it in my garage!!!

I am like a kid on Christmas eve! I will never sleep tonight!

Its funny to think it would almost double the mileage to drive it there.

Ok, have pics now. Just need to set up a place to host them.

He even had a box full of the sound deadening he pealed off the floor pans!!!! Why anyone would keep that I will never know, but I am glad he did!

Now what you need to do is give it to someone who doesn't live in the Rust Belt. Hmm, Colorado cars stay pretty nice....;)

Sounds like me, if I pull something off one of my vehicles, it goes in a box labeled with the VIN.

Nice score! X41 huh, blank panels everywhere!

Yeah, I keep calling it a "Comp Prep" out of habit! But there really is no other way to describe it.

Mike, words cannot even discribe this car or how I feel :)

The more I think about it , the more I realize I would never have another chance to own a car like this at any price.

Cars like this dont sell. They move from collector to collector.

I had a chance to pick up an 89 Saleen SSC with 300 miles on it. The window sticker was still on it, as well as the plastic on the seats, etc. I actually took out the loan to do it, but my wife made me realize that I would never drive it. I would move it around in climate controlled storage on wheel jacks and stare at it. THAT I could not do..... Nice score though

Thing is though, and you might have seen me comment on it before. There are actually ALOT of in the wrapper "rare" or "special" cars. SVO's and GT350's are out there that no one knows about with crazy miles. 6 and 7 mile cars. I am sure there are quite a few Saleens. Coupes however, are a little different. YOu have to have quite a bit of money to buy a car and not drive it. So you speculate on which will be the most sought after in the future. 93 Cobra's , saleens , and any other limited production car. Rare that anyone would think it would be a bare bones Coupe. So I would guess that all the ones with low miles will be like mine. Low , but because they were raced. Not still in the wrapper.

I am glad I am in the position to not have to drive it , and just be happy with owning it. Not sure if I will ever really drive it as I have seen that mistake done a few times before. Every mile would hurt.

Very cool. I love all of the eightie's performance part's and trick's that have been done to it.

It's almost like they followed a article in MM&FF on "how to make your stock stang run 12's".

Ran 12.15's at 112. Pretty strong considering what it has done to it.

Very nice car. I would race it, but you run the risk of slamming it into the wall.

My 4 banger is faster :)

I am shooting for low 11's - high 10's once I get everything dialed in with the 4 banger.

So I already have a drag car. And a show car. and now a garage queen.

How many miles do you get out of a headgasket on that
fast 4 popper ?

Just a few. About 50 miles and 12 or 13 passes. And ONE hydrolock that morning.

Issue was that I thought the car was pig rich by the way it ran. Once on the dyno i found out it was dangerously lean.

Still running the cheapy Felpro headgasket from Autozone.
Think of it as a fuse and you will understand why. Once the car is dialed in some more I will go with a Cometic gasket.

Yup. I understand that. Better to blow a headgasket than to blow a hole in a piston.

If you're not gonna drive it, I will! :D I'd love the chance to thrash a car on the dragtrack (I'm gonna do just that to my daily driver later this summer).

Even better that the cops thought it was cool!

I do need some better pics of it. I had it out today, but it needs washed. Didnt think it was too smart of an idea to wash a black car in 95 degree weather with no where to hide from direct sunlight. Not to even mention Cleveland water is so hard you have to chew it.
