I finally took the Capri out of storage yesterday after a couple of years. Threw in the battery and tore up the guys' driveway...

It ran strong and sounded great but I noticed a problem that may or may not be minor. When I pull up to a stop and listen to her idle, there is a tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick sound coming from under hood. I immediately thought lifters but I am not sure. I don't even want to take the car into traffic because you can hear the ticking as clear as a bell from 10 feet away. Any ideas? And now that I think about it, this problem actually arose a couple of years back just before I was about to store it. If it is lifters, what kind of job will I be looking at? A couple of hours or a weekend?

I'd start out by putting in fresh oil and see if it helps.

After that I'd pull the valve covers off and have a nose around.

Agree. If it is a tick and not a harder sounding knock it should be a relatively easy thing to deal with.

i agree with these guys. oil and take the valve covers off. i'll bet that you'll find at least 1 of the rocker arms loose/too much play.
