Hi Guys,

Well a couple years back my car went in for a paint job though a "mechanic" friends shop. Told me he contracted a guy to do the body work and paint on my car........so I was like cool. Well I guess the guy got depressed half way through the job and really got sloppy/sluggish. Took everything for him to finish. My buddy spotted some mistakes and decided to try to fix them after the car was un-masked and got freaken over spray all over my interior. Not a happy camper. All that said........didn't really have time to clean it but just recently I got it re-painted the right way! and now that the outside looks good.......I want the inside to look just as good.

There is over spray on the seats(changing these anyhow with racing seats)..........some of the plastics..........leather shift boot...........steering wheel........etc etc. What can I use to clean that up? interior is gray and the over spray is red.

I want to change my carpet to black also cause it looks pretty done. before i do that I have some floor work to do. So all that being said..............what can I use to clean the rest off!!!!?

Thanks!

Use Gumout or Berkbile 2+2 GumCutter. You spray it on a rag, wipe, and repeat. Test a small inconspicuous area first to make sure it won't melt the plastic. I have only ever done this to take spray paint off of cars. The spray paint dissolves much faster than baked-on enamel, so if you spray & wipe you will just dissolve the spray paint without harming the undelying layer.

Try it on your interior. You might also try brake cleaner, as I know it doesn't dissolve carpet. I don't know how well it works for taking off paint though.

A rag damp with paint thinner might work too, just test to make sure it won't melt the plastic.

Good Luck.

Ouch...I have found that Simple Green can work through some of it, but it takes a lot of the stuff and a lot of work.

Honestly, for the hard plastic...the best bet is to get some adhesion promotor and the correct color and recolor them all. They will look like new...probably better than before they got overspray.

Hey man,

So should I probably go with the 50 resto paint..........I want my whole interior black................Can I paint all those plastics/dask black? I am getting black carpet after my floor gets re-done and also have black racing buckets going in soon.

If you're going black I would probably get some stuff from an autoparts store as black is pretty universal. If you use some adhesion promotor (bulldog stuff at any autoparts store works great), the stuff should not come off easily at all.

Get a a can of black vinyl paint and some adhesion promotor and a few test pieces and give it a shot.

What kind of paint did they spray on it Lacquar thinner will and should clean it off be care ful as can take all color off. Also enamal reducer will clean it off to it depends what type of paint they sprayed, either way it will take some time and patients.
