Were they an option in 85? What did they look like? I think the back half of my LX needs something. I've seen a couple GT coupes and verts with the luggage racks on the trunks, but they're not my style. The 87 and up wings have a built in 3rd brake light, and I don't want that either. Nor do I want a goofy looking ricer wing either, maybe I'm being too picky. I rather like the 70's mach 1 style wings, but I want to my car to stay as close to factory as possible. Any help would be appericated pics.

I think the only thing you could get on a decklid was a luggage rack or nothing before the 87 redesign. Ive seen hatchback spoilers on coupes and convertibles.. I didn't care much for it. The spoilers for the early 90's special edition convertibles looked good, but they have the brake light you dont want...

The luggage rack is really ghey looking and I think it evolved as a way to put the Federally mandated 3rd brake light on 1986 and later models.
AFAIK there was no spoiler option in '85. I have an '85 GT 'vert and it has a nice clean trunk lid with no spoiler and no luggage rack. I love it that way.
There are spoilers available for notchbacks and 'verts. I think most of them ruin the lines of the car and look completely ghey and stupid, but hey, that's my opinion. Plenty of other people think they look wicked cool. I think ASC McLarens came with a nice spoiler, but those are PRICY. Ask negusm about those, he appears to be the main resident ASC fanatic on this board and he's a real nice fellow.

heh....
Yeah the asc verts got a nice understated rear spoiler which will fit your car.... try www.ascmclaren.com if you want to check it out....it will have the light...and is a bit pricey.

I too like the clean looks without a wing....
I think most people go for the Saleen ones...but I think those are way over the top.

Thanks for the replies. I really don't like the luggage racks at all, the saleen wings are way too over the top for me too, and since I don't want the 3rd brake light, I guess it's staying the way pa-pa ford made it. Thanks again.

Glad to hear it! The McLaren one is pretty tasteful but pricy and has that stupid light. Perfect for a '86-'93 vert though. Anyhow, enjoy your 'stang.

the ONLY wing on a vert ever that looks good is the 93 vert special edition wing. It looks very, very good, nice and clean, and not too big.

Yep, that's one of the two '93 editions. HOWEVER, the OE chrome wheels are MIA in that picture. There was also a '92 edition and it had a spoiler as well.

Does it also come with the 3rd brake light like the asc one? I couldn't get a good picture...but I imagine it would since its from 92/93.

Yes, it's attached to the trunk lid and sits beneath the spoiler

Ohhh, I absolutely love those wings. I "think" they reproduce those. Still, not cheap.

Jeremy,
and here I was hoping you could find one for me some day.
I'll get that money order out this weekend for the other parts. Been busy and broke.

no hurry.
I'd love to find you one. Lol, I'm having a notch trunklid sprayed for paint, as we talk to match my 86 vert to ditch that luggage rack. I thought more than once of picking one of those up, I think they are $200 ish or so. Anyone have a link?

79-93 Mustang Cervini Wing - Part #204
The Cervini Wing requires holes to be drilled for installation. The wing includes T-stems which simplify locating the holes to be drilled. The wing comes complete with hardware and gaskets that seal the holes. On convertible models that are equipped with luggage racks, the wing is installed over the 3rd brake light which is located on the trunk lid. "Cervini's" logo is embossed in the wing. Material: fiberglass
Price: $250.00

Hey Guys,
Anyone know where I can find a wing like the Special Edition one talked about and shown above?

Are you wanting one from a special edition car? They are pretty rare.
Or the Cervini?

I'm considering another option. A spoiler off a 2005 stang. There's no 3rd brake light. I'm just going to have to wait till one comes into the shop so I can measure it and see if the lines match up.

that is interesting. walk into a ford dealer with a tape measure, why wait?
