Just wondering if anyone had any tips on installing new carpet, I just got my kit and it was all rolled up and looks as if it might be hard to set because of wrinkles and such. I got the kit from 50resto
thanks

I just installed mine back in March and it went in great. The trick its to unroll it an flatten it out as much as possible. If you can lay it out in the sun for a couple of hours (doesn't happen much in Seattle) that will ease the installation.

he's right. It's got to lay in the sun. Few hours, even a day or so. then, lay your old carpet over the new and carefully trace the holes with a white pen of sorts/ then lay the carpet in the car perfectly, and gently with a knife, poke through where your traced holes are to be sure you're exactly where you need to be to cut, then cut.

a trick when i installed mine is, thread all the bolts into the holes for the seats and grounds, etc, but leave them stick out a lot, then when you lay the new carpet in, its easy to find where you need to cut, and you can draw a "X" with your knife right over the bolt head, then push the carpet through.
also, when you leave it out in the sun, put the old carpet under it, so it helps it take the right shape.

I got my "new" carpet from the JY  ... I took it to the car wash, pressure washed it, left it in the sun for a day, and installed... I was a nice new clean carpet.

along with the bolt trick mentioned , I also lay the carpet inside the car in the sun , it takes the conture , the heat is more extreme , thus softening the carpet backing.

I've got the carpet sitting outside right now, so how about steps? What did you do first? do you have to take out all the interior plastic pieces?
thanks

to remove the old carpet? kick panels, front and rear seats. MAYBE quarter inner skins, but you'll probably be alright with just yanking a couple of screws and lifiting it up slightly

Looks good. I like the black also. What's with all those cables? Rocking stereo?
How big of a hole did you cut around your shifter? Does the carpet lay over the shifter boot?
I have the carpet sort of in my car right now. Cut a little hole for the shifter and a slit for the e brake.
I think I need to chunk out a bigger piece for the shifter. I'm not going to put the console in though.
