I'm doing a makeover on my '81 Granada. Its going from being a track car with a "396 & WC/t-5 to a street cruiser/ G machine.

I want to do this as a budget/barter build. To that end, I've already traded a rearend off of one of my derilect Turbo Coupes for a buddys totaled '86 GT/AOD. The body is toast, but the interior and running gear are immaculate(46000 miles). Yes, I know the trade sounds too good to be true, but he's a good friend of mine and he was more than ecstatic when I found him an almost carbon copy of his car for $1200. Hence the good deal.

Therein lies my dilemma(?). I could switch everything over from the GT and have an everyday driver in about a weekend. The car has already been switched over to SN95 fr & rr suspension. But after driving this car with an 11:1 396 and a 5spd, a bone stock 86 5.0 and AOD is going to be about as much fun as a visit to the protologist.

I need ideas and suggestions. Remember, this is budget/barter.

Well I think swapping everything over from the Stang is a great start. Basically get the Stang drivetrain in there and then you can start modifying it as if you had a stock Stang.

Of course upgrading things while you're at it isn't a bad idea, but if you can at least get the stock Mustang stuff in there you will have a solid base. Then when you decide to upgrade you can sell/swap the Mustang parts that are already on the Grenader. That's what I did with my LTD.
