View Full Version : What should I do with this notch?

It's the red 79 5.0 Ghia (photos in my album). I've had it for over a year, and I've hardly touched it. It's a roller (or would be with wheels), the interior is trashed, the floor cracked, and the poor repaint peeling. Bad thing is I don't really have any money to spend on it. I got it thinking I'd build another autocross car, but I hate to strip and modify this car too much, it's just so straight. I'd love to find an 87-93 notch and just transplant the whole drivetrain over to this car, as well as the interior.

V8 from a wrecked GT, interior from a four or six-banger notch. :tu:

8)

Take the carpet up and take the Stang to a welding shop that can weld up teh floorpan. Last time I got a floorpan welded it cost me about $50.

Grab the rest from a junkyard and fix it up and repaint the interior to match.

Must be nice to have so many project cars and so much space. Save it till you can do something to it

I've got too many projects, and that one is sitting in a friend's yard and needs to be moved. My wife would love me to part with it, but there is just something "neat" about this car, I don't want to part with it for some reason. I don't drag race, so I won't be doing that with it.

You should junk it. I'll even help you out & send a truck over to pick it up. :P

Hahhahaha. I would love to hear everybody's response to that on other threads. Like "Hey, I've got a mint 5,000 mile ASC McLaren, what should I do with it?". Gut & Drag!

I say gut it, drop a 302/T5 in it, and go race the NASA CMC with it

If this topic is going to turn into a transaction, it's getting moved to the classifieds.....

Resto mod it. Everything looks to be intact so it would make a good "retro" street car. Leave the outside exactly as it is, maybe repaint it the exact same paint code. Build a mild engine, maybe even a turbo setup, build a strong rear with 3.27 or 3.55 gears, and some nice wheels. Also lower it some. Since everything looks like it is there, you could have a pretty original (as in, factory) looking car that is light and classic in a late 70s sense.

My ideal engine setup for this car would be a 302 with a turbo.
