Hello everyone! I just purchased a 1985 Mustang GT Conv. it has 98,250 miles on it. It runs great, passed smog with no problems. the two main things that need help are , the driver side window when fully up does not touch the weatherstrip leaving a air gap 1/4 wide. and the front seats are really torn up, driver seat back is also busted. other than that I'm really happy and very happy that I found this web site. Time to start the restoration :D

Anything can be fixed; for a price that is.
1) Is the window fully "up" or is the motor not getting the window up that last inch? You should be able to tell by either trying to pull it up with your hands or see the rubber at the front edge of the glass has a gap(like the glass is supposed to come up further). In this case a new window motor would fix the gap issue.
2)The door might be sagging a bit; making the gap bigger than it should be. Check the top frame section just above the glass & compare to the other side for bend damage or alignment issues(Pins that hold the top linkage together do break & the top does not line up nor function properly). That'll get you started....

buy this, it will help with all aspects of re-adjusting your windows in the vert. I have this for my 86, and although I don't need it, it's a great tech manual with lots of photos and walk-throughs how to adjust window gaps, etc.

Nice car, looks unmolested.
That window should go all the way up. Probably an adjustment like was mentioned.
Seats are easy, just need money.
Tons of info here, great guys too.

It just looks too odd and out of place. Other than that nice car. :)
