How high is the clutch pedal supposed to be when it engages? My 81 's pedal is 1 ich off the floor before it grabs but my 83 is right at the top. both clutches were installed at the same time (within a month or so). The only difference is the 81 has an adjustable cable and non-adjustable quadrent, and the 83 has a non-adjustable cable and the factory adjustable quadrent.

so long as your clutch isn't partially engaging with your foot depressed (from adj being too loose), or constantly disengaging with your foot off the clutch (from being too tight on the adj) you're free to have the adj where you prefer it.

I've written a VERY lengthy tech article on all this, it's worth the read, imo

I believe all it means is that the '81 adjustable cable was not set properly or it has stretched if it was new. Re-adjust it.

The '83 clutch cable\factory quad is self adjusting properly. If you don't like it engaging & releasing high; put an adjustable cable in it too....
